PS4 controller no longer works with FFXIV as of today but does in other games

I booted up FFXIV this morning on my Wijndows 10 gaming laptop and found that my genuine PS4 controller less than a month old bought directly from Playstation Direct (so I am 100% sure it is genuine) is NOT working in FFXIV.

I am using the controller with DS4Windows via Bluetooth which says that the controller is connected and 100% fully charged.

I HAVE tested the controller in other games such as Need for Speed Heat and SNES emulators which the controller works flawlessly. but after testing the controller in other games, I run FFXIV and it does not work at all

I Googled the problem but ONLY results pertaining to a bug in the Steam version showed. I DO NOT have the Steam version, I have the version directly from Square Enix. Steam is not even installed on this PC

I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the controller in DS4Windows, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the DS4Windows controller drivers, as well as restarting my laptop multiple times.

Checking the FFXIV settings, the game does not even recognize that a controller is even connected but nothing could be further from the truth.

Does anybody know what the problem could be and how do I fix it?

I fixed it. Posting just in case anybody Googles the problem so they have a solution

Device showed up as "Wireless Controller" in FFXIV. I clicked the drop down menu and selected "Xbox 360 controller." Now the controller works fine in FFXIV via Bluetooth.

Maybe last night's Windows update screwed something up or whatever, or something just borked.
