It is the fact that you have to refresh your house that irks you? Or that you have to pay to refresh your house?

I feel that the housing situation accessibility-wise is bad and I feel lucky to have the house, and I also feel that others should have access to the housing. And the situation that we are forced to play in, that a demolition timer is absolutely needed.

Well...it’s not an opinion that it contradicts his message though. It’s a fact lol. It’s literally going against the very thing he’s saying. I suppose it’s a bit of both in regards to your question. At this time, i have nothing to do in game. I’ve done most of the content in the game and all of the content i’m interested in so i’m simply waiting for 6.0. However, i can’t unsub because of my house. I don’t want to lose something i worked so hard for/on so naturally i want to keep it. This is the very thing yoshi says he supposedly doesn’t want yet he still keeps the system as it is and hasn’t addressed it for SIX YEARS. If the demolition timer was at least extended it wouldn’t feel as bad but it’s still just an absolute horrid system that needs to be addressed but SE keeps ignoring it.

The key point there is what they want. Due to the way they design the housing system, there is a limited availability. So regardless of what they want, they need a way to increase the availability, including making sure people just don't buy a house then stop playing the game, leaving the house unavailable to others but also unused by the owner.

Also, wanting people not to be tied to the game doesn't mean they can't reward people for playing, like having seasonal events rewards that would have to be purchased from the online store if you miss it while on a break from the game. Also, certain contents are simply easier to do when they're newly released.

The key is for you to decide for yourself whether the game has anything that is worth subscribing for. The reason why they stopped the veteran rewards is because it will take a long time if they continued having it. Eventually, new players might be looking at having to subscribe for 10+ years to get the reward they want.

So if you think housing is worth subscribing for, then that is your decision to make. Otherwise, they designed and released contents in mostly predictable means and you get to decide all of the reasons that you want to subscribe for and all of the reasons that you don't want to subscribe for any given month, whether it be a new raid tier, a seasonal event, or housing.

What you won't need to do is continue to subscribe just to reach a number of subscription days that will continue to increase to get some rewards in the future without knowing whether you'll still want to play the game before getting that reward.
