Or yknow, they could just address the system entirely. I get you want to keep defending them on this topic, but there’s no reason to. It’s been 6 years and they haven’t addressed it once. That’s incredibly lazy and poor dev management. It’s funny though, they didn’t care much about availability back when people were owning entire wards hm?(and still do). Why don’t they do something about that?It is a contradiction of his message. Just because we have the choice to sub or unsub doesn’t change that. His entire point is he doesn’t want people to *feel* tied to the game. Housing does exactly that. The housing system sucks. End of story.

They could and should address the housing system. I'm not disagreeing on this point, but that still doesn't make Yoshida a hypocrite, especially since it only applies to people who both have a house and also regularly run out of things to do in the game. The majority of the players are thus not affected.

And why are you feeling tied to a housing in a game that you barely play (since apparently logging in once every 45 days is too much)? If you're the type of player who regularly runs out of things to do in FFXIV, and thus regularly wants to unsubscribe for more than 45 days, then why are you feeling to tied to a housing system in such a game? Get both an apartment and an FC room and enjoy raid logging or whatever it is you want to do for a month or so every major patch and then feel free to unsubscribe.

I barely play right now because i have no content to do since we are in a content lull until next expansion. most of the new events coming out are reruns that i’ve already done so i don’t need to do them. I feel tied to a house because i spent both money and time to get it. I deserve to have it. Instead i have to sub every 45 days just to keep a house which is again, what yoshi p didn’t want to happen so yes he’s a hypocrite. If he had at least addressed it, then it wouldn’t be as bad but they’ve been completely silent on it like many other issues. I’m not in an fc nor am i interested in the limited space of an apartment.

Again, I agree that it should be addressed, but in the meantime, that's also on you to decide. With housing, the effect is immediate. You subscribe (and enter your house), and you keep a house. It's still not the same as a veteran reward where you're just accumulating subs for the sake of it in hopes to get a potential reward in the future.
