Provide ability to reduce Character Quantity to Zero

When submitting a bug report, please use the below template and thoroughly fill out the necessary information.

    Date & Time: 7/4/2021
    Frequency: Always
    World name: All Worlds
    Character name: All Characters
    Retainer name: N/A
    NPC name: N/A
    Monster name: N/A
    Class/Level: N/A
    Party or solo: Solo
    In-game time: N/A
    Area and coordinates: N/A
    Housing: N/A
    Steps:
    1. Open System Configuration
    2. Select Other Settings
    3. Under Display Limits
    4. Character and Object Quantity does not have an option for None (Zero).

There should be an option to reduce the display of player characters who are not in your party to zero (None). This change will assist players to be able to have direct control over their visual environment by preventing other player characters not in the primary character's party from being displayed on the player's screen. This feature request is intended to enable a primary player character to avoid situations of griefing or obstruction of play by tens or hundreds of players who surround a primary player character where it is impractical or impossible to report each non-party player that is participating in the griefing or obstructive behavior.

This is an interesting suggestion, but did you mean to post it in bug reports?

I did, only because I did not see a section labeled "Missing Feature Requests."

If you are having issues with players all in cut scenes piled around a target NPC or in some in-mass event with hundreds of players interacting with a NPC or clickable target, you can press X on your keyboard to turn off the player targets, which then lets you target/click/interact with the NPC/target.

While that does remove the non-party players as selectable targets, the "X" button feature does not not remove the attention seeking player characters engaged in griefing or obstructive gameplay (and their actions) from being rendered on the primary player's display.

What I'm suggesting is to empower the player with UX controls at their immediate disposal. Most of the time third party player characters are really great. The issue is that when they aren't, there is no ability within the primary player's control to immediately resolve the situation. This is an extremely simple solution that leverages already existing features.

If this wasn't an known issue, then why are GMs issuing 9 day bans for the griefing and obstructive play?

Just give the player the ability to turn off non-party player characters in their own System Configuration. Problem solved.
