I'd like to request a short quest be added for all Collector's/Deluxe Edition Mounts!

This isn't a HUGE deal, but honestly something that I feel would add a TON to the sense of immersion.

Right now, Collector's/Deluxe Edition mounts are just mailed to you. Sometimes with a quirky little letter, sometimes now. Now it IS true that on your Mount menu, you'll get a tiny little piece of lore or something added, and that's nice! But on the whole, it feels kind of... cheap.

I would *LOVE* if there was just a teeny, tiny little quest instead. When you mail items to players, maybe make it something that "starts a quest". Make it something super simple, but just giving things a TINY bit of lore.

For example, "Grani" the mount for Shadowbringers' Collector's Edition. It's just this wierd-looking thing that's unlike anything else in the game.

What if instead, you were given a "mote of strange light" that upon entering Lakeland, Grani flies down, sensing a strange presence, thinking it some kind of new minion of the Light. Maybe a brief fight ensues (nothing difficulty, maybe just enough to give the idea that "oh, this thing uses the power of Darkness"), and it realizes you are not a Sin Eater, it begins to wonder if you are the prophesied "Warrior of Darkness". It then says it will accompany you in this harsh new realm.

Just a tiny little thing like that I feel like would add SO much more meaning to these mounts!

I mean, just look at the Gryphon (from Heavensward) and the Syldra (from Stormblood). The former felt wildly out of place (was it teasing Ala Mhigo? is it somehow related to the nation's plight?), and the latter, I literally STILL have no idea what it is or if it's supposed to be referencing something.

And with Endwalker introducing the "Arion" mount (which almost seems to be a Light-equivalent of Grani? or is it actually a horse, but with similar armor?), it would just be cool to get a small little "introduction" to the mount.

Hell, I wouldn't even mind something similar for ALL of the Store mounts. Like, maybe Wedge designed the SDS Fenrir (FF7:AC bike) and he shows up in a getup looking like a knock-off Cloud Strife, maybe "trying to impress Nanamo", and when he sees it doesn't work, he gives you the bike instead.

So you... Just want a cutscene when it comes to collecting your mount?
Don't think it's worth the development time. And we have a lot of mount that is straight-up a key you get from a random chest or something you "loot in your dreams" (cf savage mounts).
At this point, the collector mount absence of cutscenes is not shocking.

I don't know where the HW mount comes from, but SB mount, Syldra is actually Faris companion from FF V.

FF V got a lot of references in SB:
-Shinryu&Omega + Whole Exdeath raid tier.
-Sirensong sea dungeon is litterally a dungeon in V, the ship graveyard.
-The weapon in SB collector is a known weapon from V, Chicken Knife if I remember well.
-V is the first game to have Samurai job (and 3rd time for RDM).

And so on.

I think this would be a huge waste of resources. That's all I've got on the matter. The descriptions in the mount guide are good enough.

Grani:

In Scandinavian heroic legend, Grani is a horse owned by the hero Sigurd. He is the horse that Sigurd receives through advice from the Norse god (Odin). Grani is a descendant of Odin's own steed, Sleipnir.

The Griffins are also found in Sea of Clouds and there is an S rank called Senmurv in The Dravanian Forelands.

I think the Syldra is just because diving was being added to Stormblood.

In Greek mythology, Arion or Areion (Ancient Greek: Ἀρίων, Ἀρείων), is a divinely-bred, fabulously fast, black-maned horse. He saved the life of Adrastus, king of Argos, during the war of the Seven against Thebes.[1]

I will say though this is probably the single most unique request I've ever seen on these forums. I don't think anyone's ever asked for a cutscene or quest added to their goodie bag for collector edition of ANY game, let alone here. Props to you man.

I'd rather not. I really don't enjoy questing and cutscenes in this game, more of that when I'm just trying to claim collectables is the last thing I want.

You already get showoff cutscenes when they announce and show off the mounts for the first time at fanfest. No need to annoy people with even more quests when they log in.

It is a little strange that the mount item just goes from menu to menu, but if we are gonna implement a change like this I think there should also be some kind of fanfare when you get items (mount, gear, or otherwise) from an achievement. If anything that seems like the more appropriate place for a cutscene than for some thing we just bought.

It's also unlikely that they can trigger a quest by giving you an item in any case. It's just not how quests are structured here – they always come from speaking to an NPC.
