Have you tried setting a fps limit in the nvidia control panel?Ok I just bought a new SSD to test that and it crashed with the nvwf2umx errors. Ran it with underclock no overlays. So far I have tried different gpu, different PSU, diffent memory, different storage device all isolated and on different clean installs. My CPU is p95/realbench stable and I experience zero errors or crashes in other titles. Event viewer is clear of errors/warnings. Really at a loss here. Maybe faulty pcie slot? But why would I only experience issues in this game ?
Yeah tried locking it to 90 fps per suggestion on another post I saw, but I still had the crash.
Tomorrow I am going to try limiting my CPU clock speed to like 4.2 GHz all cores because my 5800x will boost to 4.85 GHz under gaming loads at stock bios settings and I am wondering if this is causing an issue in this game. Really don't think it's my CPU. I have played lots of battlefield 3/4 and Witcher 3 on this PC - both in my experience are very sensitive to faulty CPUs or OCs.
the game just does it sometimes, sometimes I can go weeks without any crashes knocks on wood, sometimes I crash multiple times a day
1440p as well

I know FFXIV has had issues in the past with people getting crashes. Try Google search "FFXIV Direct X11 crash fix" and that might lead you to so websites that can help.
***FIXED*** I will edit if I get a crash again but I have been playing all day no crash. Prior to this I couldn't make it an hour without a crash.
This may only be a fix for Ryzen. I enabled PBO in BIOS , selected thge Positive curve option under curve optimizer, and set the magnitude setting to 5. I left the clock setting at +0. I have not had any issues in other games so I am not sure if my CPU just has a bad core or what that final fantasy is exposing, but this fixed it for me. Do this at your own risk. I would not increase the voltage much on your CPU. I believe that increasing it to 5 on my bios increased the max mv by .025.

That's odd. My guess then is either the board you have does voltage differently, or wonky core like you said.***FIXED*** I will edit if I get a crash again but I have been playing all day no crash. Prior to this I couldn't make it an hour without a crash.

I have a strix x570-i ITX board with a 5800x, and I have a negative offset of like 6 or 9 in PBO, with +200mhz offset on the core, and I've seen my cores hit 5.025Ghz, and never had client crashing issues. Very odd.

I messed around some more and I think the actual setting that fixed it in PBO was changing the power limits control from auto to motherboard. I took off the voltage increase and left that setting and I haven't had a crash since. Maybe just something with the particular mobo I have. That's odd. My guess then is either the board you have does voltage differently, or wonky core like you said.
