Game is unplayable due to lag.

I play every other game just fine without any latency issues at all. I log on FFXIV and everyone around me is rubberbanding and i often have the disconnect symbol next to my name. I even disconnect fully from the server at times. I just want to play the game, any help will be much appreciated.

The best recommendation i can give is play on a corded connection not wifi.

But if thats not the issue then it probably comes down to computer specs, had a friend trying to play on a laptop that couldn't do anything because his pc couldn't handle the game.. sadly ffxiv has a lot more requirements then most other mmo's out there.
If you're able to consider upgrading your graphics card, get some more ram, and make sure your cpu is up to snuff, i know that is a lot of money and basically saying get a new computer, but sadly its the only thing that fixed it for me.

Good afternoon and thank you for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

Are you connected to the internet using WIFI or directly with an ethernet cable? Additionally what have you tried so far to alleviate the issue?

Not the OP, but I'm on a wired connection on a brand new $5500 custom built gaming PC. It ain't that. Connections to the SE data center are getting metered on certain ISPs (see the giant thread on the 90002 errors.) Charter Spectrum has been having this issue for weeks now, but it's also happened on Comcast in the past. There's nothing that the end consumer can do about it - it's up to SE as the business class client to fight on our behalf to fix the issue.

Currently I am using WiFi. I do want to say that I have been playing this game for while with no issues but things have been going bad these past 2 weeks or so. So far i have tried updating my drivers as well as restoring my pc to before my last windows update.

Good morning and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

We apologize for the delay in our response, please try the following troubleshooting steps:

    - The game will use the Internet Explorer web browser to connect to the internet. Open Internet Explorer, then open the "Tools" setting, go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
    - Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
    - Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
    - Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
    - Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
    - Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
    - Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.
    - Please RESTART your PC now. Once your PC has been restarted, Right-Click the FFXIV launcher icon once more and select "Run as Administrator"

-Make sure your fire wall or antivirus program is not interfering with the game

    - Check to see if the following port ranges are opened on your router. You can contact your ISP and request they open them for you:
    ▼TCP
    54992 through 54994,
    55006 through 55007,
    55021 through 55040

-Try disabling background applications and do a clean boot by opening the task manager and selecting the “Start up” tab. Disable everything and then restart the PC.
