    Can I get a refund for automatic renewals?

    I thought I cancelled automatic renewal, and was expecting my subscription to expire today, but I woke up to an email saying that my card was successfully charged for the automatic renewal. I was planning on waiting until closer to Endwalker's release date to renew, because I don't have all that much to do in-game right now.

    You can ask them, but pretty sure they'll say no. I've never heard of anyone getting a refund for game time, but there's always a first!

    SE doesn't take too kindly to that, especially where subs are concerned. They would probably refund the cash but then they'd want nothing to do with the account in question and probably cancel it. It's probably not the most convenient solution, but it might be best to just take the loss and not make the same mistake next time.

    No, you most definetely do not want to dispute the charge with your bank, as the bank will then issue an immediate card chargeback to SE, who WILL then cancel your FFXIV subscription and your entire account completely in turn, essentially deleting your characters and everything you've ever done in game, and which you will never be able to restore. A number of players have been caught out by this in the past, so it's not reccomended unless it was a fradulant transaction by a hacker.

    Really, to the OP, it's unfortunate, but take it as a lesson learned. Only do monthly renewal in future and if you know you're not going to be in game for a while and don't want to be charged in that meantime, simply cancel your subscrition temporarily, and then reactivate it at a later date.

    If you contact your bank and do a chargeback your Square enix account is 99% going to get permanently banned; this is standard practice in mmo games, they either ban your account or that specific credit/debit card number or the bank account associated with that credit/debit card. For now you should just take this on the chin and let it be.

    4.7 Refunds in Exceptional Circumstances Only. The entirety of your FFXIV Subscription Fee is applied by Square Enix to the FFXIV Service Account on the day that it is charged. All charges related to the Game are non-refundable unless third-party criminal activity is involved, as determined by Square Enix. Therefore, if you deactivate your FFXIV Service Account in the middle of a 90-day Billing Cycle, you will not receive a refund for the remainder of the Billing Cycle, but may continue to play the Game until the Billing Cycle ends.

    Do NOT do this if you care for your account. This tends to get your account banned regardless what MMO you are playing.
