Terrible FPS issues in town

Is anyone else suffering from terrible FPS in town now and NPC's loading on screen?

Before the patch is would be at 45-55 FPS in Ul'dah but now it is just unplayable at around 10-15 FPS, with major dropouts and fluctuating.

Mine always stutters when loading characters, bit annoying haaha, eventually evens out when i've loaded majority players.

Give it a week. Soon the returning crowd of people will see that there still wasn't enough content to give them much to do, and we will be back down to the normal population numbers at prime time.

I just feel like its more so my PC, I mean its never been this bad... Totally unplayable right now.

Step outside Uldah? whole world outside those walls!

The terrible stutting you get when first going into Uldah is usually the Harddrive loading up masses of files (A SSD would fix this stutter). Once its all into Cache/Memory it evens out nicely.

Yeah, the immediate increase in data sent to your computer results in to a slight drop in frames per second (usually 10-20 and sometimes completely halts until caught up). I've been meaning to look into a SSD myself to help supplement the slight lag spikes I get when walking into the adventurers guild in cities.

It has nothing to do with Data being sent to your PC, FFXIV only sends/recieves about 1 - 3KB max., it's your harddrive loading up huge amounts of files for town/character data thats the killer. the FPS doesn't really drop it just freezes like crazy and skips.

Yah my harddrive is big fat old thing, 5200 rpm or w/e, so that stutters a lot when loading.

My friends SSD tho, oh so nice, he actually loads up so quicker.

I bought a SSD a few days ago. WOW DOES IT MAKE A DIFFERENCE. My mind was blown seriously. No slowdown in UD. Good computer before, but it was the clincher.

I'd def recommend one if you have the cash/inclination.
