Lofts and how to place stuff on them?

So i managed to get a loft and stairs set up but i can't seem to place any floor mount stuff on it. No chairs, rugs, beds. What *can* i put up there?

Been working on my apartment lately...

Anything with the 'tabletop' designator can be placed on a loft as-is.

Anything 'furnishing' (most chairs/rugs/tables/cabinets/etc...) requires some manipulation of glitches to get up onto a loft. There are a number of videos on youtube detailing the process. A little tricky at first but once you get the hang of the method it's not so bad, just time consuming.

From a programming standpoint, a loft isn't a floor but a very large shelf.

As mentioned above, tabletop items can be placed on shelves but other types of furniture cannot, so it needs to be floated through glitches.

    I see.

I'll figure something out then. I'm a bit broke though so I won't be buying anything else just yet.

There are several videos on YouTube explaining how to float items. Just search for "FFXIV housing floating glitch". Controller specific guides will usually have controller in the video name.

In addition to the Wooden Loft (which is great for floating multiple items at the same time), you'll want a Stage Panel and Riviera Wall Shelf (easier to use when floating tabletop items and very helpful when you're floating a new item near a group of already floating items).

Here, i recommend the guide from Akh Rhai, great housing designer btw, used some of her ideas in my houses.

those are just the basics for starters.

we beed more loft options and loft pieces that would fit bigger areas in houses from wall to wall or how to put it, more 'LEGO bricks'

Lofts make little sense as they currently work in FFXIV. They only take tabletop items, but they are meant to be walkable spaces. Any furnishing that can go on the floor should be placeable on them. If SE would only allow any floor item to go on lofts, that would essentially allow us to float furnishings without glitching. This would make more advanced interior design much easier for everyone.

    Agreed. Such a missing opportunity.
