"A Feast of Lies" MSQ *help needed*

I play a bard and can't get past this quest no matter what I do. I keep doing it on Very Easy and STILL can't do it. Final Fantasy games are NOT supposed to be this difficult! Every fight should be skippable. EVERY. ONE. Thanks to "get gud" elitist players everything was made harder with Shadowbringers and it isn't fair to those of us who like FF for the story and casual play.

Playing this game is supposed to be fun, not drive someone to the point of wanting to give up on life. I deal with heavy depression and Final Fantasy was helping. Until now. Hard content should be optional, not forced on you to get through the main story. Nobody should feel like they need to ragequit over a *Final Fantasy* game of all things. Nobody. I thought things like Extreme, Savage, etc. were there for people that like hard challenges. The main storyline should not be nearly impossible for an average player

    1. How are you with regards to your gear? You don't have any gear that's falling too far behind with regards to level? It's all in good condition (ie: nothing broken), correct?

    2. Where are you running into trouble? Is it with a consistent mechanic? Are you hitting the enrage timer?

It's been a while since I've done that fight, but maybe with some more details others will be able to chime in and help with suggestions.

My gear ilev overall is well over 400 but it doesn't matter because the stupid battle caps it at 412 no matter what. And I can't kill Ranjit before he enrages, or whatever it is. Individual gear pieces are at least lev. 75 (everything is Exarchic except the bracelets, rings, earrings, and armbands) and I keep it all in good shape (never had anything break so far). If this is the kind of boss fight they're going to give us in Endwalker I'll never be able to play after ShB because this is way too damn stressful.

If you can't complete the battle even on easy mode and it isn't because of your gear, either you're doing something wrong at the enrage step (you need to shoot the dragon heads if I remember right) or there's something wrong with the overall way you are using your bard skills.

Keep your DoTs applied, keep your songs playing, hit all the things as they light up or become fully charged.

The battles aren't supposed to be impossible on normal mode for any class.

So i looked up the fight again to make sure it was the one i was thinking. This is the Ranj'itt fight in Eulmores aetheryte hall, yes? So this is your 4th time encountering the mad monk, and you are using your own character with all the skills youve spent 78ish levels unlocking and learning to use. He doesnt really use any new moves here, so you already know what to expect. You dont actually ask a single question, even though your post title indicates that you think help is required. You also dont mention the specific thing he is doing to kill you. So all the advice im going to give is generic to the fight, the class listed on your character card, and the game in general.

So first thing, you say your overall gear is fine. Im sure it is, no reason to doubt you. Check your weapon in particular though. The weapon contributes more to your damage then most of the rest of your gear put together. Someone with a full exarchic set, but a weak weapon will do FAR less damage then their ilvl would indicate.

With that out of the way, your class is listed as archer which im going to assume actually means bard. Meaning you have the ability to deal full damage at range and while moving. So keep your DoTs on the boss. Rotate your songs. Keep your GCD rolling. Follow your procs. As for the boss, ideally you want to be at middle range for most of the fight. You know what moves you need to look out for - following fire bursts, lingering puddles, lightning cross, etc. Most of them are easy to dodge regardless of range. The giant cone attack is easier to dodge if you are closer to the boss(less room to cover to get out), and being at medium range means going out for the point blank or in for the donut are easy too. Being at max range may feel safer, but in fact it will give you extra trouble so avoid if possible.

Which takes us to the end of the fight. When he summons the dragon heads he is getting ready to end the fight. You dont have a trick like the one thancred used, so you need to kill the 4 heads. He doesnt take any more damage until the heads are gone, so switch targets immediately and get them down. Since your gear is up to date, it should only be a couple hits each. While you are dealing with the heads, he is charging his 1-hit kill attack to use on you. Finishing them all off doesnt stop his cast, but it does remove his shield. So now that he's vulnerable finish burning him down before he finishes charging the move. Thats it, thats the fight. Congrats, now you get to confront Vauthry and see the next chapter in the story.

Save some CDs for the heads then burn his ass hard. If his spell goes off it's over.

I did it on dancer on my first attempt but it was REALLY tight. Like, half a second longer and I'd have been toast.

I'm not going to assume that archer means bard. I'm going to assume that archer means archer, that they are trying this without a full kit of skills and they never picked up the soulstone.

... So I'm going to say go fix that first.

I'm also going to suggest that instead of depending on taking out the heads in one or two hits, do the opener on each of them to stack the dots, and then move to the next, go around them in a circle and once your back at the first it's time to do a few hits and finish it off.

I'm definitely a bard; if I said archer that was accidental. I ended up having someone shareplay this fight for me because every time the enrage timer came up no matter what I did I couldn't do enough damage in time no matter what. The only thing I can think of is not doing something right with weaving the GCDs/oGCDs somehow but I have NO idea what it might be. I'd take out all 4 dragon heads then go after Ranjit but nothing I did was enough. I wish I knew what I was doing wrong

You may wanna look up Bards rotation.
I mean no personal offense by this, but you likely have a wrong fundamental understanding of how the job works. That or you're just not pushing your buttons fast enough. Never not be pressing a button!
These are the only two things I see when someone has trouble like this.

The good news is there's lots of resources out there to help you improve! Many helpful folks. Sadly I'm no bard expert myself, but that doesn't mean help is unavailable.

don't stress yourself out. It's best to play a game that fits your disability.
