As long as they don't handle it like WoW did. New players have no choice but to start in BfA (and BfA dungeons are ROUGH, even for vets, just because you need abilities you don't have at lvl 15). You want to start from the beginning and get some kind of context? Tough! Chromie time is a privilege you must earn!

ARR suffers a lot from the fact you are unlocking everything. Attuning to aethernets, unlocking mounts, your mount speed is slow at first. It would help if
    • You unlocked aethernets when attuning to the main aetheryte.
    • You can use other mounts, such as gifts or collectors edition mounts, even without unlocking the chocobo mount.
    • Your mount speed is 2 stars from the very start in ARR.
    • Dye and glamour prism unlock quests were removed. This should be universal knowledge to everyone in Eorzea.
    • Class quests had a different icon than the blue one, so when we tell people to do them, we don't also get them to unlock all classes in one go.
    • You were prompted at the start whether to show or hide side quests that aren't blue.
    • Give a stack of 50 aetheryte tickets at the beginning. I get these because I've played a long time but new players don't and they don't have a lot of gil.
I have played through ARR since the revamp and it's not so bad actually. When you do dungeons in ARR though, you do about 3 in a row suddenly and that is exhausting after doing quests all day.

When I get to the first dungeon in ARR I usually go to sleep so I have the energy to do 3 dungeons in a row. It's not just the dungeons being close together, it's that there are far more in ARR than in any expansion. I don't know how these would be removed without rewriting the story.
    • The Thousand Mows of Toto-Rak could be replaced with fighting the final boss in a special instance and the dungeon made into a sidequest.
    • Brayflox's Longstop could be skipped and made a sidequest. We literally go in there to get cheese.
I don't agree with reducing the GCD or more actions, because I've seen plenty of videos of people struggling with the few actions they do have in ARR. The GCD speed in this game is a lot better because in other MMOs, it's so fast, that I am button mashing.

ARR is not bad. This is a misconception that keeps being spread.

Guys, if ARR was really bad, the game would have died with the reboot and we wouldn't be going into the 4th expansion....

The problem is expectations. Everyone talks the game up so much people think it's the best thing ever at every turn... It takes time to ramp up.

I've been doing ng+ for a bit in my spare time (work, now back in school, raid, playing new games that released recently). I've not once teleported. It's not even that bad. No flying either. Chocobo porters, and airships, and ferries (which I use for getting between every point. I only use my mount once I've gotten where the porter takes me).

You just need to stop rushing, change your mindset, and enjoy the experience. The whole game is new to you. The early quests are not filler. They are building your story, the world, and how everything fits together.

I really enjoyed ARR 8 years ago. I'm enjoying going back through it now.

People are making mountains out of molehills with ARRs experience. The only thing that needs adjusting is skill acquisition balance, since it's been pruned at low levels.

    The questing is fine.

I'm sorry but you speak for yourself here. Multiple others have described experiences of being dissatisfied with ARR and quitting and in Novice Network I frequently see sprouts complaining about ARR questing, but I have yet to see anyone complaining about HW questing.

The questing experience doesn't change that much over the course of the expansions. If they don't like questing in ARR, it'll be a similar experience later on.

These are some really great QoL ideas that would help ease the newbie experience without sacrificing the story-focused format of the game.

Don't bother replying, they're another trollclone. Same outfit/job level spread as Titanmen alts.

It's a very different experience later on because you actually have content worth running by then. Heavensward is a pale shadow of its former self, but at least it's not sastasha level until level 40+ (and then back to sastasha tier for Praetorium/Castrum).

ARR is just a visual novel. A visual novel can be replaced by NG+ or inn room cutscenes if players wish to participate in it.

Oh I know, but if anyone takes them seriously because they don't, its worth pointing out the flaws.

I disagree. Sure now the fights and dungeons are super easy. They weren't when it launched. Maybe this stat crunch will make them less face-rolly.
I remember when most of the early dungeons used to take 30 mins or so. And many of them hurt quite a bit. I got absolutely rekt the first pull of Stone Vigil the first time I did it. A similar thing happened with Dusk Vigil actually. Funny that.
