Technically, no, it’s not. But it’s also not something a lot of players in this game could ever manage because they simply lack the knowledge and ability. These players are also a lot of the times the same players that do not wish to better themselves and think their freestyle gameplay should be acceptable. I’m not referring to people that actively would try to get better to clear said content.

Sure it's not rocket science but if something takes time, practice and research to be able to do well it's not exactly super easy. I never understood the argument that something isn't difficult because all you have to do is put effort in and work for it.

You are right. Though the problem is due to the low barrier of entry across the board. The game hardly does anything to push players to strive to become better. Sadly not many do harder content or try to improve without a reason. I do think that if SE slowly gave reason to players to improve they would and we could slowly raise the bar in terms of difficulty especially when it comes to being personally accountable for ones actions within a group.

Idk, my first savage was hard for me. If there wasn't a youtube guide it would have taken me more than one day to learn the mechanics.

I have to agree, reading up on your job's abilities and looking up a guide and the like does wonders, so I'm not against that per say but all I see here in terms of parsing is self-righteousness and toxicity/ name calling and I'm very much against that.

Unfortunately, you can't have one without the other. Just look at this forum.
Classic damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario. The current circumstances are the best YP could have done.

Fortunately, the actual XIV is really nice!

Overall parsers are used by those who focus on end game content such as Savage and up. Casuals usually steer clear from them.

It’s a subject that opens up the proverbial can of worms.

They're used by those who want information beyond what little the game itself provides and which they can actually play around and experiment with in real time, usually so they can learn from it. No more, no less.

No one likes being stuck in a party with someone like your example, but an “official” parser isn’t going to fix that scenario. It’s just going to enable toxic behavior.

A parser won’t teach you how to play better, and I’m not sure why people think that the people who can’t figure out how to play their job, would somehow be able to figure out how to use the data to improve the job they can’t figure out.

I don’t buy into the theory that people don’t want to learn to play optimally, I think a lot of it has to do with the approach people take with them.

Some people would want to learn to play when they learn they are sub par. Some don't. An official parser would help both. The first to learn that they need work and need to seek out advice, the other to show who to kick from the party.
