A portion of the FFXIV community can be incredibly unkind to those who dare to offer any sort of feedback in regards to the game itself. The implication that the game isn't perfect and could be improved is enough to set a lot of people in this community off like a firework - even if the feedback is polite and civil. I've seen suggestions for quality of life features, praise of antagonists and critique of story elements devolve into death threats. I'm sure it happens in other fandoms, too, but I've not experienced it elsewhere to such a degree.

I think a lot of FFXIV players hide behind the game's reputation as a kind community but in reality there's a lot more gaslighting and passive aggressive behaviour to be found. In my opinion, that's worse than outright hostility since it isn't as easily dealt with or reported. Especially if it happens on third party platforms such as Twitter, Reddit or Discord.

Unfortunately there are plenty of people here that are too dense to understand that most mmo communities actually overlap. This includes WoW and FFXIV.

havent seen many of his videos, never played wow, but from what ive seen i can say:

hes not a bad dude, but he's playing a role to please his mindless chat.
