True. Even if Asmongolds most toxic audience would also play FF14 it would be actually an improvement for the community. I have never experienced a community which more bullying and unwelcoming than the FF14 community. And i have played tons of other games.
Cheers

He's really coming to primal, huh? I was hoping he'd choose aether... I hope our community on primal doesn't change for the worst... And if he chooses behemoth it'd be the apocalypse for me...
Don't get me wrong. I love watching his content. I like him a lot, however his community is the worst thing ever. We'll see what will happen. It's inevitable.
I hope he sticks with the game until heavensward at least, but I think arr will be really hard for him to go trough...

I've been on Primal my entire FFXIV career, it could use a boost. I will enjoy seeing some more players here! Hopefully they use their AOEs!He's really coming to primal, huh? I don't think he will make it past 30 honestly, I feel FFXIV is too slow for him, he complained about WoW after the CGD changes a couple of years ago so he'll almost certainly not like the combat in FFXIV, he also doesn't strike me as the type to sit through hours of cutscenes, so he'll probably spam skip faster than a BDO player going through their story quests and ultimately end up playing the game for the wrong reasons, just my opinion of course. He's really coming to primal, huh? I wouldn't mind him skipping stuff, if it means he gets to content that is more bearable to him faster. It's not ideal, but new game + exists if people are ever curious about the story. I used to get mad at people skipping story in this game, but honestly, I think this game has so much content, so much stuff to do at every point, that I now recognize that this game is great even without the story. The story is great and makes us more invested in the world and instances, but the content is still good if you skip.
If you read his twitter, it's quite clear that was to make it clear it is just a game and there is not needed for twitter drama as it clear there is a clash between wow and ff14 players there either praising it and ask him not to come at all. Just like a big number of people in this thread is saying.
Why call someone you don't know a loser? I think you do know who Asmongold is and just trying to be "cool" on the internet.

Have you said anything about wow does this better, would be cool if something similar was implemented in FF - in public?
I'm gonna guess no or you would been saying so much salt. Google "scottzone ff14 drama" and you shall see (tldr: doxxing, d threats etc)
I've had friends asking for wow transmog system. "OH HOW DARE YOU INSULT OUR GLAMOUR SYTEM REEEEEEE" paraphrasing ofc but you get the point.

Do you need help, Sotaris? Hearing how Scottzone was bullied into stopping content creation altogether was pretty disheartening, yeah. Not gonna lie. And it's interesting because even while you're memeing, people are continuing to prove you right. XIV has a problem with severe evangelizing and shutting down dissenting opinion, no matter how valid it may be. It may not have even been anyone in this thread who was responsible for Scottzone's departure, but the fact that it happened to a content creator nowhere near as big as Asmongold should be worrying.
I'm not on the boat that XIV's playerbase is "as toxic as other communities", because it isn't. There is toxicity, but overall, the community is pretty cool, it really is. Though, if we don't start cracking down on the people who take critiques about the game as personal attacks and then lash out at others, the problem is going to fester.
I want people to continue having the impression that XIV's community is warm and welcoming, but the rose-colored lenses need to come off at some point for some of its players. Asmon is a huge streamer and while I get that some people are worried about his following (I am, too), the last thing I want to hear is how he didn't see the welcoming aspect of the community that people so praise us for. It will paint us in a really bad light, because that's a part of our reputation and identity as players of XIV.
If you're in this thread gatekeeping (and you know who you are), you are part of the problem. @ me if you want.

Of course I know who they are, I guess a sarcasm tag is necessary when one posts a sarcastic comment casting shade on this whole s*** thread. If you read his twitter, it's quite clear that was to make it clear it is just a game and there is not needed for twitter drama as it clear there is a clash between wow and ff14 players there either praising it and ask him not to come at all. Don't touch me there
That’s the difference between 14’s toxicity and WoW’s which actually makes me feel like 14 is just as bad if not worse. WoW’s is much more blunt/in your face whereas the 14 toxicity likes to be covered up and hide in the shadows. People pretend like it’s all rainbows and sunshine’s but it’s incredibly ugly on the inside. I hate that because people get this false notion of how good the community is and then they get hit with a rude awakening whether it be with casual toxicity or whatnot. It’s why i’m actually really excited for him
to come over now and perhaps bring a part of his viewer base over. This games community needs a kick in the head and needs to be humbled.
