New Story spanning multiple expansions or just a story per expansion

So do u guys think with the base 6.0 expansion being the end of the Ascian story that we will get another long story arc spanning multiple expansions or that they will just reduce it to each expansion and subsequent patches being their own story with no overreaching arc between them?

I’m hoping for the continuation of a long arc over multiple expansions personally but interested to hear what you all think

I suspect that it'll be a bit of both. It's the Hydaelyn and Zodiark conflict that is specifically drawing to a close with Endwalker's base expansion quests. Yet I imagine much of the expansion itself and potentially even beyond that will continue to wrap up and tug at plot threads that have already been established.

I imagine future expansions will be largely self contained, much in the same way as Heavensward happened to primarily be about the Dragonsong War. So we might get an expansion based around whatever is to be found in Meracydia or one that takes us to the currently inaccessible regions of Hingashi.

I think I prefer future expansion's story being its own full arc rather than stretch it out for years.

I am guessing long arc. I think that's what Endwalker will partially be, right?

Ending the Ascian story but 6.x quests will be setting up the next arc.

didnt he say (a while back dont know how long) he isnt sure what its gonna be?
but the ascians were on a pretty large scale i would like to have 'smaller' enemies. so one expansion for one story might fit that better

One arc per expansion would make it easier for the players to jump to a new Final Fantasy MMO when it releases..

As it stands players they still have to go through hundreds of hours of the Hydaelyn arc, before even getting to potential shorter more contained arcs. That or buy boosts. Something needs to be done about the new player experience.

I wouldn't mind either way, though I think I'd want a new myth arc at some point even if 7.0 is standalone.

Why? Why is the story somehow less important if it's older content? The game is primarily a final fantasy first and foremost, so the story is gonna be at the forefront. And anyone who cares about story will wanna experience the old stuff because it's good stuff. And for those who don't, well they got story skips for them.

I guess an expansion or 2 down the line I could see them giving jumps past 6.0. But certainly not any time soon.
