    Healers Deserve a Male Mascot

Men heal too. Healing is not just a job for women.

Square Enix should make the official art for the next healer a man. Yeah, I know that they are using that Viera girl for sage, but it would be really nice if they didn't.

MMOs need to let go of this idea that men are tanks/dps, and women are healers. Thankfully this game doesn't do it with the dps, but the heal sl00t stereotype for women still remains, and more mmos need better diversity in this regard.

Alphi is the face of the new Sage, isn't he? I know he's not a man at his tender age, but still.

It was the same with Astrologian when the Shadowbringers trailer was released. Urianger filled that spot.

Damian was specifically referring to the artwork they released for Sage.

While it might be true that the artwork for healers usually show females characters, they also show in-game renders of the job which in this case was a male Lalafell. The Job trailer itself was a male Miqo'te. So, we can't say that there is no "male representation" for healers. Personally, i don't really care. The artwork always looks cool.

I meant in the job icons. Like when you're running palace of the dead. All of the heals are female. They are also all female on the job page.

I'm not saying the game isn't fine as is, I just wish we had a little bit more diversity.

The only noticeably female POTD sprite is DNC...

I give up with you people. Forum community is absolutely unhinged. Imagine joining my alt's FC just to wait for me to come online to harass me lmao.

tbh i dont really get your point.... if you enjoy healing.... play healer.... if not... play something else. What does it have to do with gender?

I have to agree with Chie here. Only the DNC is noticeably female with the PotD / HoH sprites. If you look at the Job guide, then yes, only females are being used for the Healers. Then again, only males are used for Tanks.

To me, it's just artwork. What you see in-game is a better representation then a few pieces of artwork. Every player will decide for themselves which role they want to fill. As it should be.

No, all of the healer jobs are wearing dresses. Which is a whole other issue. (As a healer main PLEASE GIVE ME PANTS and also something that is not a dress or bathrobe.)

I mean, I'd love to see more diversity overall in what they use to represent the jobs; have men for the job banners on the healers page, and women for the tanks! Have darker-skinned characters for some of those banners! Etc. But I think you may be reading more into those icons than necessary; it's not that they're overtly female icons for PotD/HoH, but rather that the icons represent the, well, iconic artifact gear for the jobs.

And somehow healers always get dresses for our artifact gear, regardless of the healer's gender.

(Well, no... to be fair, sometimes we get bathrobes instead.)

I aim to make my posts engaging and entertaining, even when you might not agree with me. And failing that, I'll just be very, VERY wordy.

This TBH. Also, a lot of tank gear has skirts and dresses or dress length cloth hanging off the armor too. Let me see my legs, SE!
