The problem with Abilities' "aoe related".

It is not new that people think Shadowbringers is the worst expansion on job design. We see a bunch of skills that have their "aoe related". This is just an explicit form of lazyness. The reason? Well, let's see Summoner for an exemple. We have Energy Drain and Energy Syphon. I can't help but thinking that they could've used the time they took to make ES to create another ability/spell/etc, one that is actually useful. The same goes to Fan Dance I and Fan Dance II, on Dancer. Bard's Bloodletter and Rain of Death (despite the latter is not a new skill, but they could've made a combo with Quick Nock, for exemple). Ninja's Hellfrog and Bhavacakra. Monk's The Forbbiden Chakra and Enlightenment. It's just a lazy way to make more skills that have niche uses, so that we can "fill our hotbars", thus showing the lack of creativity on job design. The only good exemple was Foul and Xenoglossis, because one has to be casted and the other one is instant. It, at least, can be acceptable, because it has a "reason" (a little one, for me) to be used outside of just "oh there's more than one enemy, so I'm gonna use it".I just hope that on Endwalker we don't see "new actions" like single target Afflatus Misery, Confiteor, etc. IMO, job changes should be exciting and not just predictable.

I kind of agree that the AoE game is kind of bland across the board, with basic combos...

However, I also think they aren't really putting that much of an effort in designing interesting AoE mechanics because the content that you can actually apply it in Shadowbringers is quite limited and basic to begin with.
