Bellular is annoying. He has absolutely no opinions of his own. He is simply a parrot for popular public opinion, and knows how to churn out 5 30 minute long videos about nothing

He moved here because it was probably more profitable for his brand.

As people in this thread of said, he's made videos praising content he hasn't even played. His whole job is just telling people what they want to hear

    Not typically.

And, again, in these videos he isn't much praising anything about the game outside his own experience of it. He's simply offering his evaluation of certain general design philosophies/decisions, more in the vein of "If so, that'd be good. Or at least it'd be better than the state we're used to here in that regard." That's not exactly disingenuous when talking game design generally.

My worry is/was merely that people would take these 'lesser evil' or 'good if so' general evaluations and use them as some weird argument-by-disinterested-authority to blanket over XIV's problems.

Bellular is just preaching to the choir. Besides on his main channel it's still all World of Warcraft. It wouldn't surprise me if he is using his subchannel to put up videos off of streams talking about XIV vs. WoW to make more profit. Until I see the dude actively making videos of himself playing WoW or XIV or anything really I'm not going to take what he says all that seriously.

Most of the time it's "I like this in XIV and I hope WoW can implement it".

Its cool and all but who really cares? Why not show admiration for the people who stream XIV on a daily basis on Twitch or churn out countless YT videos on it. Its great to see other communities coming over dont get me wrong, I love seeing the game thrive especially with how the world is going right now. But give credit where its due and its not this.

It has not the gameplay that he wants to have.
It would also extremely boring for his viewers to watch him looking at cutscenes.

Not everyone has to like this game and we need to accept that and stop forcing people to play it.
To try forcing other people to love the game is the worst part of the community.
I think a lot of those trying to get him to play are former WoW players who really enjoy FF14. Think about it, they watch his stuff for years and they end up moving to another game. It isn't to unreasonable for them to try and get him to play this game they enjoy so they can keep watching his content with enthusiasm. Kinda hard to keep following content focused on a game you don't even like anymore.

Unfortunately, they've failed in attracting his attention, let alone enthusiasm. As a former WoW player, I paid more attention to Bellular, who enjoyed the Story of WoW, than Asmongold. The only bit of the latter I've bothered to watch was part of a lengthy "isn't it cool to see all of the stuff behind the glitches in the game" youtube video, which was, to put it bluntly, boring as heck.

Then again, I don't watch streamers much. Easier to play the game than watch.

I'm a former WoW player too but I just haven't been able to stay invested in WoW for long periods of time for a long time now. I think MOP was the last time I was. For WOD, LEGION and BFA I came back for bursts. Even managed to get a few mage tower glams from Legion before they closed. But I could never really stay invested for long, and I've just had zero motivation to pick up shadowlands.

Which is a shame, because there are some things I think WoW does better than FFXIV. But a big part of what keeps me invested in MMOs is the lore/story and the RP with other roleplayers, and I've just lost interest in WoW's world. I think that's the root of why FFXIV keeps me around and WoW has lost me. I stopped caring about the world of World of Warcraft. Which often feels like the big story beats are driven more by rule of cool and chasing big 'cool' moments rather than a fleshed out world, with some exceptions like the Suramar campaign. Legion and BFA were very hit or miss for me story wise, liking things like Velen's story and the internal Kul'tiras story, but not really caring about Illidan or the faction war etc.

There are some things I like more gameplay wise about WoW. Dungeons are more diverse. I like classes having different specs/talents. I like flex raids. I like account wide mounts, pets, transmog etc. But for all the things WoW does better, it ultimately just doesn't draw me in anymore. While FFXIV, though I can point out several things that do bug me about the game, ultimately does.

LUL Asmongold's chat would rip into the very soul of any person that lands into one of their groups. Be it their glam or mount collection, though a glam mount competition would be cool to see with Asmon's flare.

I think that is my main interest in Bel taking a look into FF14. We need more lore divers. We have a few, but not many are on the same level as say Ethys. So having somebody like Bel analyzing and speculating on the lore of FF14 like he does for WoW would be pretty fun to watch. I always kinda wanted FF14 to have their own Nobbel or something of the sort.
I personally don't get to hung up on streamers. I enjoy finding new content creators when I join a new fandom/community so I never felt to need to try and get content creators to join the new community. That being said, when one I know takes an interest in something new on their own and that something is a game I love, then I will take it positively.
