@OP I'm late to the party, so I don't even know what your original post was aside from lack of space...

So, may I humbly suggest paying an extra buck for an extra retainer?
Or, alternatively, if you can make alts.. move non-essentials to them (and their retainers) Stuff like crafting goods/food/fireworks/etc.

Alternatively-alternatively:

• Dump any gear you're not going to be using for future jobs in the near future (like, don't even bother stocking stuff you might use eventually; you can farm up gear super easy when its needed)
• Dump duplicates (No need to have 6 colors of the same item!)
• Dump any gear you can either make or buy for less than like 1,000 gil.
• Level up your jobs together so you don't have to keep various levels of armor. Also
