why is there no spanish localization?

spanish is not my native language and i am not of european spanish/south american descent (im well aware spanish is not the sole language used in south america, and that south american spanish is significantly different from european spanish dont worry)

i'm just curious as to why not. there's french and german, but, no spanish?

I have been told there are laws in France and Germany that require them to be available in the language to be officially sold there.

Also, while Spanish is spoken predominantly across the world, I imagine their market research showed it wasn't financially worth the expense to localize the game in Spanish.

    Just my assumptions.

Nah, there has been many games untranslated since the term "Video game" exists.
How would you deal with untranslated mobile game nowadays, many are english only.
Plus there actually is voice acting in german and french. However for EU game many used to had English, German, French, Spanish and Italian languages.

I guess it's because of the gaming community main languages, they probably went for the most profitable markets.

EDIT: And there is way too much text in-game to consider translating it now.

There needs to be demand for it.. from the audience it concerns. It's similar to all the questions about a South American datacenter.. the demand needs to be there, and unfortunately it doesn't do much for people whom it does not concern to raise it as an issue. All of NA and EU can pipe up and make noise in favor of something.. yet if the data shows that it just isn't viable and/or in demand enough among they whom a localization or a new datacenter concerns.. what's the point then?

I looked this up when buzz was out about a Latin America data center. Basically put it's not about number of global speakers of the language, but also how many people who speak that language would be likely to play the game if it were localized into their language.

Going off just video game sales in general as well as sales from previous Final Fantasy titles, video gaming just isn't as prevalent in Spanish speaking countries as others, mainly just a thing in Mexico and Spain, and even then the JRPG genres aren't as popular. (though this could be a chicken and egg scenario where game isn't popular because not translated, leading to not translated because perceived as not popular) But either way there are likely more players speaking French playing in Canada and France than would be speaking Spanish in Mexico and Spain. Additionally there are a lot of French speakers in Africa... though I wouldn't be surprised if it's a similar situation there as in South America where video gaming just isn't as big of a thing.

German... I have no explanation for that one, except that if they were translated and localized because of the European market, German is spoken as a first language by more people on the continent than French, so it gives the game a wider market.

I think that going back and adding more localization would be a lot of work. I personally think that it could be done, but it would have to include all of the main quests, side quests, tooltips, descriptions, help text, voice acting. It's a lot and that is probably the reason.

Probably comes down to this honestly. They don't think it will be worth the cost.

    This is the real reason.
