    All Exp Bonus world full?

I'm new to FFXIV long time MMO player, I have a question about the world exp bonus's. It would appear that all the exp bonus world in all the North American data centers are full, is this something SE is addressing to open up more capacity in these worlds or perhaps add exp bonus to new ones?
I am looking to play with my sister, when you select a world it provides careful instruction to ensure that you choose the same world as your friends but there is plenty of conflicting information on this. If for example I am in Hyperion and my sister ends up in a world that doesn't have the bonus, can I invite her to party and run around with her in game, does that transport her to Hyperion for the game and if so would she receive the same exp bonus? Or does it default to the least populated world?

TLDR: Want to play with my sister, she can't get into the same world I just started up, what option do we have other than both choosing a different world with no bonus in order to play together?

She can wait a bit, world fullness changes day by day, sometimes even hour by hour.

If you want to be able to play together the most important thing is to both be on the same data center. Most of the group content in the game is organized at the data center level(for instance, if you use the matchmaking to run a dungeon it will pick from all the people on your data center who want to do dungeons - not just the ones on your specific server). Further more, there is a feature in game that allows your character to physically visit the other words that are connected to the same data center. So if you were on Hyperion and she was on Famfrit, either one of you could use the visit function to go to the others world. There are a few restrictions on what you can do while world visiting, but for the most part youre free to game together as you please.

With that said, if youre on the same server there is no need to visit and no restrictions at all. The key then, is to find a time when the server is open to new characters. In an attempt to balance server populations, SE gives certain servers the exp bonus to encourage players to start there. In addition as a load balancing issue, when a server is particularly full of active players the game temporarily stops new characters from being made. The bonus exp designation is updated periodically, the "server is full" designation is updated much more frequently(if not in real time, hourly at the most). In practical terms this often means that to get on certain busy specific servers people need to make their characters late at night/early in the morning, during the middle of a work/school day, or other times when less people are logged on. It can be an annoyance, but once the character is made and accepted by the server everything is set. At that point even if the number of players online is above the "server is full, no new characters" level, you can still log in and play with the character already made.

And finally as to your question about bonus exp. Bonuses are tracked at the character level. If you create a character on a server with the "Road to 70", this bonus is assigned to the character. If you travel to a server that doesnt have it, you still do. If the server loses that designation, the bonus remains on you until it expires(90 days). Consequently, if you made a character that didnt get the bonus and traveled to somewhere that the bonus was active you would not receive it. With all that said, you dont actually need the bonus. Leveling is very easy in this game, and with the bonus many people find that they level too quickly(some find that they level too quick even without the bonus). The way the game is designed, your level alone doesnt determine what you can do in game. Much of the content is unlocked via running the Main Scenario Questline. Being a level 50 character whos only at level 30 in the story, means that you are running level 30 instances using level 30 abilities for level 30 rewards.

Any further questions, feel free to ask. Theres usually someone here who knows the answers. Best of luck sorting out your servers, and welcome to the game!

Basically, if you’re both on the same Data Center, you can play together, you just have to use the Huge Crystal to transfer to each other’s Home Server, as I like to call it, but EXP buff, only applies to characters created on the specific server itself.

Though at this point, I think all Worlds should just have the buff regardless, and it might balance out everything, so people aren’t fighting to get in…
