    State of Mac entering EndWalker

First and foremost, I want to say thank you to dev teams of ffxiv. Thank you for putting your utmost effort and thoughts for releasing Mac version of EndWalker the same day as other versions. I am truly grateful and I could not thank you enough for efforts. Despite the situation around the world, ffxiv are one of the best thing I could ask for.

With that said, I am also curios about Mac version of coming the EndWalker expansion. I watched fanfest and researched further into interview post fanfest. Much of it, if not all, did not discuss the Mac version of ffxiv. I posted the similar text before about m1 Mac handled ffxiv. To my surprise, and within my humble opinion, ffxiv runs on m1 Mac quite well. For that reason, from me to the dev teams, I am hopeful to see you implement features or address more performance for ffxiv Mac players.

Thank you and thank you dev teams of ffxiv. I could not thank you enough!

I asked pretty much the same thing and got no feedback. The general consensus seems to be they will just let the game run on Rosetta2 until Apple removes it in the future. After that SE will have to either update it for ARM support or EOL the Mac version. Which is sad because this game could easily run about 20% better if it was natively running on m1 instead of Rosetta2 which is emulation.

Indeed! It would be unfortunate if it takes that long to optimize for mac client yet I also fully understand why they wouldn’t update it yet—resources allocation and not economic, etc.

Of course, if I’m in their shoes, I wouldn’t delay contents to optimize for one platform either. Hopefully resources are available to optimize the mac client—maybe hiring contractors and contract them to optimize mac client, rather pull devs from the main team and optimize it.

It's likely done by contractors at Codeweavers already https://www.codeweavers.com/portjump

Right now, they don't have an M1 version of WINE/Crossover, but they are working on it https://www.codeweavers.com/blog/jra...-apple-silicon
