Sorry for the double post. Also i can't edit since i am posting from Cell.
I am sure of the reply i'll get for my last post so i'll anticipate right now.
A right equivalence between the "learning blu spells" mechanic (the core mechanic of the entire job) and "aethereal mimicry (Just one spell of the job) Is If you would have to go learn the same spell EACH time you want to cast It.
You already have learned the spell mimicry, the fact that you need another player (of a particular role Also) to make use of It Is Just an unconvenient gimmick. You can find It fun or not, but imho Is Just silly how It works right now
I like the way it works right now. Gives me a reason to interact with strangers in a MMORPG (superficial as this interaction may be). I'd be really sad to see it become a cycle spell.
im baby
The spell is learnt from the Ghrah monster family, and the Ghrahs have to target and tether to a creature in order to mimic its appearance and attack types. It would make no sense for it to just let us cycle the roles with no target to mimic.

"I thought that my invincible power would hold the world captive, leaving me in a freedom undisturbed. Thus night and day I worked at the chain with huge fires and cruel hard strokes. When at last the work was done and the links were complete and unbreakable, I found that it held me in its grip." - Rabindranath Tagore
