Sounds to me like if people want everyone to use essences they should crash the market for fragments.I'm quite aware of that, and i do feel that the cost is exaggerated -unless of course it happens to be exceptionally expensive on your sever- but even then, you can get around that. Even so, not all fragments are the same price - the very best fragments aren't even needed, strictly speaking in savage content, hell if cost is such a an issue, run the fairly decent most half or even sometimes. So yes, it really is a viable solution for anyone who cares at all about put in a half decent effort.
I am on Crystal, and I had run out of Skirmisher, and didn't have time to go farm any.. so I went on a quick run through the different worlds, looking for prices... lowest was 6000 per frag for that particular fragment. I bought a stack of 99... I got 4 skirmisher. This is why people don't want to buy fragments. I got some others I could use with red mage, so I used red mage for my last 6 delubrum runs, which I am not as good on as I am as dancer.
So, es, I was using essences, but probably not doing much more damage as rdm with essences as I would have as an unessenced dancer, considering I am more comfortable as a dancer. So, really, did it shave any time off those runs?
I wouldn't call running content without essences 'efficient', I'd say it's more of how people choose to spend their time. Wasting eachother's time in DR, farming for 5-10 minutes, or doing Bozja content in general. I personally put in the time on and off playing in Bozja and got me a permanent 10 valor (damage) buff, and you can still do a lot of damage on tanks/healers. Helps that I am also using lost actions during burst. Actually, the last DR run I had was about 24-26 minutes long due to a lot players (not the DPS in my party) using essences. That's over half an hour saved, because people chose to use essences and/or lost actions! If players embody a mindset like "nobody else is going to use them, I won't either", they will just make that a reality. On an individual basis SE made farming essences less efficient than running content without them. Any player with half a brain who realizes this isn't going to bother farming essences for DF.
This is SE's incompetent design, so yea blame them. People who spent time farming essences specifically for DF DR just kind of screwed themselves over by not doing the math, or not understanding it, and I guess they're a little bitter about it.
Also, I actually never personally farmed fragments prior to a couple days ago, ironically. I only did that out of morbid curiosity to see just how many fragments I could get. I have martialists and aetherweavers for days (over a dozen runs worth now) for a few minutes of killing plants, and earlier I solo farmed some worms and got awakening fragments, and some skirmishers - though that farm run was short lived as Castrum popped, so instead I got some pure essences from that. By the way, our tank 'DPS' party burned top so fast, bottom was begging us to "stop dps".
Yeah, I've been noticing that. many among the western playerbase seems to choose to be a burden on others. It's why we can't have nice things. It's a respect thing really, I think. The thing is, they assumed whole playerbase is like those we see in japanese community: team based efforts. But because the game houses more than just japanese community, this of course falls apart when it come across to the more individualistic community: NA server (can’t speak for EU cause I have no idea)

If those toxic tactics mean you don't use an essence, I think you will find we don't care. And again the same if you leave. Straight up afk however and I will simply report you and carry on my merry way.
I feel absolutely blessed getting the chance to read this before it was deleted. It's actually kind of ridiculous that this kind of thing works even on the Asian servers.
In DF it's legitimately less efficient for everyone involved to be grinding essences. Sure the run takes less time, but once the time they all spent grinding gets factored it's an efficiency loss for each individual. They would've been better off just eating to 50 minute DRs, but SE plays on their culture of shaming each other for doing anything that's of benefit to the individual. It's almost exploitative; SE uses their culture to pass this essence system that's INTENTIONALLY inefficient.
I'm honestly thankful NA doesn't play into that crap.
While I don't agree with the approach some have taken, I wouldn't go as far as saying that they are toxic leeches. I have my disagreements on this subject, but that is definitely not something I believe. Overall, it's just not worth the effort to some players, whether I agree with it or not. I've said my piece on this topic already, so my views are known. Honestly not much more for me to say.
I my dps contribution for the first two bosses is going to be greater than yours for the rest of the run even if I afk. So at the end I am doing more things than you even if I afk.
I had one run where I said in /shout that I am not going to play if I don't get a healer.
I left my own to let them invite one. We had 3 in total in dr. I had told ppl in shout that I needed to be invited but no one responded in the end. I kept on dying to unavoidable aoe because I am not running essence of the veteran like 90%of the DPS players. At the third boss I gave up on trying to play solo in 24 man raid. If I die to unavoidable aoe, I am not going to accept the raise My rank was also around 16-17 so the mettle loss was insignificant. That run took exactly 1hour and 3 minutes. I watched 2 episodes of sukasuka.
