When it's good it's sooo refreshing to be in a run where everyone or almost everyone is using DPS boosting essences and such. It's in and out, killing the boss as you skip mechanics, EZ CLAPS and I love it! EZPZ 20 min or fewer runs.

But when it's bad ... boy is it bad. It's annoying af to see people not using essences or anything. I have been put in groups with people who are legit SANDBAGGING. Rank 25, no buffs, eating mechs, multiple deaths and when you rez they don't accept until the last moment. They don't try at all and guess what? Those runs take 40+ mins and are just a pain.

The reason I love Bozja and Eureka is that it has horizontal progression. You are rewarded for being creative, and you are allowed to do normally broken things in what I otherwise consider to be a fairly non-engaging battle system. I have been in DR parties where the MT throughout the whole encounter is a MNK in my Party ... and not because there were no tanks but because they wanted to do it, and it was amazing fun. But the bad runs ... they make me happy that the final WHM cane is the only relic weapon I actually want.

When I run any Bozja content, I always have a +80% damage boost essence running. Unless it's one of the raids I'm not too familiar with yet, then I have a 60% damage boost along with an hp and Def increase so I don't die as much. Doesn't matter how hard I can hit if I'm dead after all.

I went out of my way to get a bunch of those 80% essences not long ago since they are very easy to get and I didn't want to run out

How the hell do people not have enough essence? We spend a lot of time doing fates, which give us fragments, to level our rank until 15. The quests story also give fragments as rewards. And then we need to do CLL x15 (before buff), which also showers us with fragments, based in how many prisoners we save. The next step is DR, and it also give us more fragments (though pretty rare).

What you got from CLL and those fates are enough for a x15 DR runs. Even after CLL buff (which means you only need to run CLL x3 for each relic), each CLL runs give 2/3 per fragments.

So yeah, you will only run out of essence if you sell all of them on MB.

To be frank, skirmishes alone do not give abundance of essences/frags. They are—at worst case—provides you just enough amount to ease through one excursion, IF you even get the ones you can take advantage of.

So the only two ways for people to -not- have any useable essences would be the part I bolded, or one simply do nothing but twiddling their thumb in the instance waiting for CE/CLL/Dalriada (little to no skirmish grind, no cluster farm, no frag farm). Factor in multiple DRn runs and the whole system being non-incentivizing, it is possible to run out of them. Though all it takes is just a small 20m farm to regain a lot, so.... /shrug

And yeah I have tons of beast, which doesn't increase my dps so doesn't speed up the run at all.

All the essences can. Beast included. if the extra HP or defence keeps you alive hitting the boss when you would overwise be killed then theres a dps increase right there.

then you get things like breathtaker i think it is .the evasion one. doesnt increase your dps but can literally allow you to dodge doom stacks.

you might even ay the hp absorb on beastmasters would allow any healers to then use profane more freely which again results in yet another dps increase for the group as a whole..

and if you have a ton of them why arent you using one? whatelse are you going to do with them all?

This entire thread shows how vehemently ffxiv players will defend doing the absolute bare minimum.

After tasting 25-30mins PF runs compared to my 50-60min DF runs, I will never ever queue for DR through DF again.

The ffxiv community can be quite toxic when it comes to....playing the game?

Sorry, this mythical hive-mind does not exist. And at this point, in all likelihood, if you know how to do your rotation, you'll exceed the aggro list of most people in the party, essence or not. Why?

Anyone competent still doing relics is doing POTD runs to 200.

That's it. If the average run is >30 minutes in PF, you may as well run POTD. So when you remove the people who (1) are good but hate DR, so they're willing to just level off-classes and accept a slower rate or (2) are good but have the single-segment time investment to run POTD?

Yeah, DR is going to suck. That's on you for still doing dead content.

If you want martialist/aetherweaver you can probably farm closer to 30ish fragments in that time as they drop as many as three at a time if you're killing the rank III turtles.

It's the other essences like skirmisher and ordained that are a hassle because they only drop one at a time regardless of what you're killing.

This could be justified to a degree. Sometimes healing through aoe is too tasking for the random healers.
