Most people that I see not using essences in these threads have said they use what they have. They don't exactly drop like candy. And they are used up quickly, I am not sitting for 30mins shouting for a cluster farm or spending my gil when I am fine with a slower run.
    Normal mode encounters have no enrages. Which will always make them beatable provided you're pressing buttons. DR bosses have massive hit pools by comparison, especially once you factor in we're synced to i430. They are absolutely scaled with the intention of players using essences. Consider that your average Tower run takes approximately 20-25 minutes. DR is essentially a 24 man raid yet if only 2-4 people have Essences on, it will likely go beyond an hour. Even accounting for mini-bosses and slightly longer corridors, it doesn't come close to making up the difference.

    Except your contributions are so insignificant, you may as well be AFK. Which was my entire point. For reference sake, a party of twelve with one dedicated tank, two dedicated healers (or tanks/DPS with healing Essences/Actions) and nine Irregular tanks will have similar or faster results than a full party of twenty-four assuming only three people bother to pop an Essence. The "help" you provide is that low. However, to play devil's advocate, I'll retract the AFK comparison. This still places you as the equivalent of a non-DPSing healer; a freestyle Samurai; a RDM who routinely hard casts Veraero and Verthunder. The same excuse players post about in Tales of Duty Finder you're reiterating now. "I don't care if it takes longer. I play how I want."

    So like I said before. Don't complain the next time you're stuck with that DPS who won't AoE; the tank who single targets every mob, or the DRG who dies every other mechanic. In DR, your damage contribution is the same as someone with permanent Brick of Death.
