FFXIV Crashes Randomly - Temporary Black Screen

So. I've noticed this issue happen about three times now. The first time was a simple crash, with an error that said "An unexpected error has occurred. Closing Final Fantasy" or something along those lines. Two of these crashes, however, have caused my computer to temporarily go into a black screen; it'll still run, I can hear programs in the background, but I can see nothing. But it is not an actual Black Screen of Death. It usually comes back after a minute or two, and low and behold, FFXIV will have crashed as a result. Nothing else is hindered.

The first time it did this black screen crash, it gave the exact same error as before. This time when it did the black screen crash, it gave an error noise, but when the screen was back, the game had already closed, with no error message in sight. I presume, however, it was the same type of error.

Two of these errors have happened upon porting; once to the Gold Saucer, and once to Gridania. The third error happened while I was in the Gold Saucer, but when I had been AFK for a time, and tried to move. The moving in the Gold Saucer and Gridania port were the ones that gave me the temporary black screen issue.

I have never had this issue before, and it seems to be mostly a result of the 5.55 update. Everything is up to date on my computer, and at that, this computer is brand new, and showing no troubles elsewhere.

Good morning and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

To prevent repeating previously attempted troubleshooting, what have you tried to alleviate the problem? Does this crash happen when Final Fantasy XIV is the only program running? Also, could you provide a system report? Simply go to the 'Config' option on the Final Fantasy XIV launcher and to the right of 'System Information' click on 'Display.'
