Plates is kind of a 'glam-retainer-in-the-wild' implementation. It's pulling and applying data from closet source while in a enabled location. Wouldn't be surprised if they are able to add a few more slots in 6.0, because deleting the belts is likely a good chunk of server resources likely being freed, more than just a few extra weapon and ring inventory slots.
They're not gaining much from belt deletion since they're turning around and giving us more ring/weapon slots. Those resources are already mostly re-budgeted.
But I do think it's wild we don't have a glam plate per class at the very least. Whatever has to change for them to actually give us good glam and storage, I hope they decide to do it sooner than later.

Yes they are, because belts is a heck lot more than inventory slots. It's a calculation to everyone's stats, in-conjunction with the damage math reset being done in 6.0. This can be rather large, the less math the servers have to keep calculating does free up resources. There is definitely capacity being freed beyond slots, otherwise they would have just been additive in 6.0.They're not gaining much from belt deletion since they're turning around and giving us more ring/weapon slots. Math is a processing resource, items are a storage resource, these are not the same thing. Using the calculator on your phone does not take up harddrive space. Removing belts has nothing to do with the stat squish, they are separate endeavors. Belts are being removed because we're running out of armory space and they don't seem to have the ability to expand that. So they remove belts and redistribute those slots.Yes they are, because belts is a heck lot more than inventory slots. They are doing the stat squish because the numbers are reaching the limits of certain data sizes and going beyond those would require restructuring everything. For example the maximum value of an unsigned 32 bit integer is 4,294,967,295. Anything bigger than that and the number simply will not fit in the available data structure. Stat squishes are performed to keep numbers from ever reaching those critical points.

Yes they can, that's why they added the choco saddlebag, that extra inventory does not follow you to the instance servers. The 140 inventory limit is the global. Inventory is done in tiers in this to allocate server resources appropriately. Glamour closet is in a quasi-instance resource in the inn. Coffers are only able to opened in towns because those contents do not exist in the instance servers or open world. All sorts of cutouts exist in the game to expand inventory operations without really deleting anything. The limit is based on how much they want to balance on the server side to always-follow the character. Stats and currency is also part of this inventory equation in any MMO. Always-follow resources could be moved around appropriately or via cutouts. It's a balancing act. Like if they add +5 glamour plates, it could cost them the ability to add +10 inventory slots in the future.Math is a processing resource, items are a storage resource, these are not the same thing. The belt removal does tie into resources because you are just thinking of idle action and not overhead operations when people are on the map killing mobs and hunts, thousands of people with less unique inventory and stats. There is a gain without another set of unique variables to track.

I wish they would do it like in ESO. Once you earn the gear, you get the pattern forever. There's no need to keep the actual gear. The system will log it for you. After that you can just go to the station and work on your glam. No point carrying the gear around and waste the space.
Also, math you only have to do once is not an expensive operation for the server. Our stats aren't changing during moment to moment gameplay, so they not being constantly recalculated by servers. They don't have to redo that math until we actually change our equipment. We're talking about machines that do millions of calculations in the blink of an eye, the different between adding up the stats from 14 items vs 13 is literally imperceptible.

And make all event, mogstation gear be able to placed in the armoire >_>

I know, it's sad, I feel like this means they broke me, that I'm willing to pay for what should be basic functionality...
