I love the community, but at the same time I'm scared to say much of anything around alot of people, This is due to how people label things which with how I am, I'm an emotional type of person, I basically wear my heart on my sleeve i say what I mean, I state my opinions and play in my own style ... the problem with Community's (not just ffxiv)
Is you have an Opinion, you state it.. you have suggestion you state it and try to open up a calm discussion and then you have people who on purpose try to set you off and end the discussion or thought for w/e nonsense reason they have, Just because a thought/suggestion is dark/outside the box are something extremely different doesn't mean a person is "trolling" or whatever else nonsense you want to put it, all it means is a person wants something different from the game.
Which this is a huge proplem, in my eyes because the devs /mods and in fact other players expect a person to not be a robot when people sit there and poke you with a stick over and over and over and over again then the second you let out a little of your realistic irritation your screwed... Its almost like if you walk into a donut shop and want to order a muffin which they sell and then everyone stands up starts b-rating you but the second you snap your the wrong one. That's literally how talking about anything is with most community's
so in alot of ways, i have to agree with how you feel OP.. and I know 1-3 people from this will attack me over this lol

Thank you I want to see about deleting this thread or possibly deleting my account on the forums. I am thinking about just playing solo and staying away from most players since if you give any sort of criticism they hound you out. The game isn't perfect at all and there is alot of things that could be fixed but as soon as you say something they attack you. DR, BSF isn't perfect at all. They act like people have tons of gil to buy the fragments or can sit and grind for essences knowing that it is random what you get, it be nice if you could choose but that isn't the case. I regret posting anything and it lets me see what kind of community we truly have. Every one on youtube put on rainbow sugar coated glasses but in the end the community isn't as upbeat as people sayI love the community, but at the same time I'm scared to say much of anything around alot of people, This is due to how people label things which with how I am, I'm an emotional type of person, I basically wear my heart on my sleeve i say what I mean, I state my opinions and play in my own style ... the problem with Community's (not just ffxiv)

You are getting the forum people sweetness. One's who regularly lurk here are more "die hard" and opinionated, because... why lurk a forum if you are not an opinionated mofo looking for a debate? In every game the forums represent a tiny portion of the population within the game. Honestly, you are a bit too doom and gloom due to some people trolling. You can clap back, ignore and block them, outwit them etcThank you I want to see about deleting this thread or possibly deleting my account on the forums. I have met so many lovely randoms in this game. I remember when I was new a complete stranger went to the bother of crafting me relevant gear for my level since I was so behind. My first FC I stuck with taught me a lot, they were very nice and the FC I am in now boots any people who are toxic very quickly. You should not judge the community so harshly because of some keyboard warriors on a forum.
I am just going by what I read in that, but you sound like the kind of person I'd want to be around, sadly I don't run that content. (This isn't my main account either, my main sits on Twintania)Thank you I want to see about deleting this thread or possibly deleting my account on the forums. I still feel that this is primarily an issue as it's communities colliding ( "still" as in I''ve seen other issues on the essence system, and I think it's largely from not the audience used to using consumables in the first place). If you were in a hardcore group and were like "food and potions are useless, or sacred, I refuse" they'd likely set you straight or right out the door, meanwhile more casual that consumable stuff is just a great nuisance (or worse you've a player who can't be bothered to use their default other skills so no point mentioning extra stuff lol). For content where the worlds are meant to collide I hope they consider something more long term or partially so, as an option. If not some sort of FFIX FFVII learning system perhaps just like one slot that can be held that prevents consuming. I believe a much larger portion would be into using these items if you had such a system in place. Maybe unlocks at a certain rank, lets you hold one benefit in a non-perishable slot. (Although personally I think if you made them all learn-able, and have equip slots, then you'd get people who learn them all just because they can, which adds a sort of extra grind content to do).
For some people using a consumable is just pure ew. It's not that they're useless, it's just.. "ew". I can tell you personally if I know I can win the content without in sRPGs I will not use the consumable item, I'd rather collect it lol. Although I would never purposefully lose either, so in multiplayer situation I tend to consume more because losing costs more both personally and socially (if you lose a boss fight it's going to be like another 5 minutes before you can do it again or less in an sRPG, in an MMO it could be hours wasted for many people). Of course such a system would reduce economic opportunities, which is a down side, but even if you had it like use X skill X amount of times to perma learn- that would for some period of time push the economy (perhaps better than before, depending on what the X was, as someone would know after 100 casts they learn it forever they might just spam the skill and also buy up / farm it more earnestly). As a semi related aside, FFVIII's magic system drove me nuts and I really dislike it lol. It came round in FFVX and I greatly disliked it there too . . .
