What does being popular have to do with anything? If she doesn’t fit the story and just constantly rehashes the same things, she needs to go. It’s getting real old seeing her “sacrifice” herself only to amount to nothing. Believe me, there is no greater plot armor than 'she's popular'. Generally only narratives that want to go for shock value will take the most popular cast members... and kill them off.
