How Do I Make the "M" Key Display the Map?

I created a new character. Whenever I hit the "M" key, instead of bring up the map, as it does with all my other characters it brings up a list of signs.

Why does it do this? And what do I need to do to have the map appear when I hit the "M" key.

Ignore this. It seems to work okay now. I don't know why it didn't for awhile, but it is okay now.
