Healers Angry when PLD Clemencies

Hi all, I am not an expert tank by any means, but I just wanted to discuss or calibrate, is there a Clemency Ethics for PLD?

Are there any times where it's unacceptable to use? Or is it always unacceptable to be used, even that we can tell they are struggling, unless Healers are dead?

Any opinions from healers as well, when do you think it's appropriate to use? What do you think about Clemency in general?

As a WHM who also plays PLD, let me give you my simple view: Use it at your discretion, you feel it's needed? Use it. Best case scenario, you just saved me the need to cast a healing spell, allowing me to cast a Glare or a Holy instead.

Just about the only thing that may have ever slightly annoyed me is when a PLD Clemencies literally as I'm about to finish casting a Cure II.. but in the heat of battle shit like that happens. I don't treat it as something a PLD is doing to get under my skin.

From a PLD pov: I Clemency whenever I feel it needed as well and I've never once seen a healer go at me for it.

Why people are talking about damage potencies or whatever in a thread about Clemency use etiquette... god only knows.

I think its more accurate to say, "If you need to use Clemency in party content, something has gone very wrong."

Pretty much this. But definitely do not use it "whenever you can" as it has been suggested in this thread already.

I am "main healer" and honstly i dont understand some arguments. It sound to me more like "you dont need to heal because i am pld. Please dps." ? Thats absolute ridiculous and weird just the opposite of the usual argument "healer need to dps". Both arguments are complete exaggerated because it is only explaining that extreme and are for nomal runs never applicable.

Also are the comparison "pld burst vs whm dps" (not even burst just spam) is also just a training for the mind. I only encounter healing checks difficult enough to make it necessary to GCD heal in Ex or Savage content, never in normal. The only reason in normal to heal with GCD is something happing for example: Players ignoring mechanics and/or stand in bad. Players dont look for their gear (undergeared and/or broken gear). Etc.

Back to the topic. I am not looking at the castbar of my teammates at all. Its not my job to monitor players. My job is their health and the health of the opponents. So i do not care if a paladin is casting clemency. I only will say something if he starts spamming it because thats useless and not helpfull.

So if the paladin casting clemency to heal himself will make me do more dps and i will only see it on my OGCD's because i know roughly how many i need to heal in normal content so have some to spare. Still no reason to call out.

If people think thats the way then lets go and have fun but in all honesty clemency is not part of the rotation... same goes for provoke or superbolide. If you ask "i am good paladin?" then expect some honest answers. Casting clemency besides the already mentioned moments is just not good.

If thats your level and you say "but i want to play that way" - No problem its your decision but dont expect people to be dishonest.

I dont even know why this is a problem to begin with you cant stop a player from doing what he/she/they is doing anyway. Play to your hearts content and if somebody is rude then they probably breaking the TOS. So thats then a easy soultion i would guess.

I’ll say this for clemency. Mobs appear, I have some mobs already and I’m to lazy to move, clem and boom I get insta hate on them and they wander to me. Not 100% but it nearly always works.

This, similar to using Regen mass-tagging in FATEs to grab the first enmity event on mobs and therefore collect disproportionately from everyone else's participation. Cheeky, but effective.

To be clear, though, you'd have to already been on the mob's threat table for Clemency to gather them. If someone else got facepull threat, somehow... wasted MP and GCD, sadly.

I'm lvl 80 WHM on my main, and lvl 72 whm on 7 alts (click on my profile name and go to <Characters) . Personally, I don't care what the tank does. I'll heal, and as long as the tank doesn't die. I'm cool with whatever.

Main reason you see Clemency from the weird PLD is because they have lifebar anxiety. Healing even the smallest scratches, I saw it the other day in Dalriada. Thankfully I had cleric stance (lost seraph strike) to make up some of their lost damage.

Yeah but they get lifebar anxiety because green dps will let them die rather than have their back in parties.
