We Should Have More Eternal Bond Sanctums

So, I've been watching people get married in the Sanctum of the Twelve in East Shroud for over half a decade now.

It's very nice, and I appreciate the ability to essentially marry one of your close friends or lovers in game, but it sure would be nice if there was more than one church where you could get married.

In such a vast and deep world, it's unbelievable to me that this is the only place that adventurers or anyone can tie the knot!

Couldn't we get an Ishgardian one, and a Far Eastern one, at the very least?

Since people can renew their vows/redo the ceremony, it'd be available for everyone! Would drive up wedding purchases too, I think. Would be good for the game, and they don't even have to alter the ceremony itself. Just add new locations.

    What do you think?

"I thought that my invincible power would hold the world captive, leaving me in a freedom undisturbed. Thus night and day I worked at the chain with huge fires and cruel hard strokes. When at last the work was done and the links were complete and unbreakable, I found that it held me in its grip." - Rabindranath Tagore

And different locales could allow you different wedding theme options.
    This is a cool idea.

Unfortunately Eorzea has a polythestic religion with each citystate taking one of the Twelve as their guardian, so unless you worshiped that particular deity you would be out of luck (so Ishgard would forbid anyone getting married there who wasn't already a confirmed member of the Church of Halone for instance). This is why the Sanctum exists, it's for the entire pantheon, not just a single member, which works well for marriages between adventurers who take their own guardians irrespective of citystate. And lore wise it's pretty much unique, being an Amdaporian Fifth Astral Era structure that had been long abandoned only to be revealed in the Seventh Calamity, and restored to it's former glory expressly for the purpose of weddings.

Unfortunately as much as I would like to see weddings in other places like what FFXI had, I think SE are pretty commited to having it just at the Sanctum alas (as it would require entirelly new cutscenes with new building interiors to have to be added first, given weddings are instanced content and all).

I still want the outdoors area they had for that match-up instance to be a bonding venue. It makes so much sense for it to be one.

That doesn't mean it can't change though. Over the years they have added things that they deemed against lore (or simply thought it to be impossible), but will enough voices added for change it can be done.

I'll add my vote to this. Although I'm not bonded, more options would be great.

As well thought-out, well-explained and nuanced as this is, it doesn't explain the egregious oversight of not allowing the Gold Saucer to host wholly non-religious, bawdy, Vegas-style weddings!

While true, it doesn't mean that the architecture of each sanctum couldn't be different per city state. For instance in Ul'dah instead of having a grandiose Cathedral perhaps there would be something more akin to that of a Mosque or like the Taj Mahal that would fit more with the areas esthetic. Limsa could have...

    ...

Yup.. something like that. Couldn't think of anything.

They would still be built and dedicated to the Twelve, just different building design.
