I really miss the ARR attention to detail with the ear holes and ear socks.
There are so many hats I want to wear but can't because they make me look like a hyur with a tail.

Except it literally is. If you want to do that, Fantasia and New Game+ are there for you.

In a game where you can be literally any job on a single character, alts don't make a lot of sense.

Especially when there are so many critics out there who say that the story is "over long".

I don't want to throw money down a hole to change my character's looks. I like building characters with different backgrounds and having my main put on a skinsuit of a different character does not create that "new character"/altitis sensation for me, it just takes my main character out of commision for a while and creates a situation where my character's name isn't appropriate for the skinsuit. (plus I just cannot raid on anything other than my main's look. That would throw me off so hard.)
Like, I pay for the 8 characters per server sub for a reason.

They are mostly 1.0 items and 1.0 gear design had a completely different philosophy.
I remember Yoshi-P specifically stating that one of their goals for ARR was to change the way gear was made, so it could be produced a lot quicker.
The result was less details, less form fitting, and the loss of Miqo'te butts. Not a very good trade imo

That's how wow elf ears, Draenei horns and stuff work and there's no end to complaints about the clipping.

Trust me, they add hats and people will complain about the clipping.

Me, I'm more irritated with the birth date thing at character creation having two 2/7 dates. 2/7 is both 7th and 8ths of that Umbral moon and it bothers me more than ear clipping

Also new game+ is not a new char, you dont start over, you dont level anew... sometimes a fresh start is nice...

Though i gotta admit i dont see why id need all my archivments on the other chars... rater im arfraid to do pvp on my twink bc i need the wins on my main xD

Short A: No
Longer A: There is NewGame+ if you want to play the story again, there are Fantasia if you want to change your looks and if you want to make a new char for RP get a level boost on the Mogstation

Ya this is pure greed on SE part. nothing more nothing less. there's no fucking reason why we can't share crap with alts. also before the fanboys come in defense of this crap with sPaGhetTiscOdE there are WAY OLDER AND WAY CRAPPIER games that let you share shit with alts. like fuck SWTOR lets you move crap between alts and that shit is owned by EA and run by like 5 people. when EA the poster boy for evil videogames companies is less stingy than you, you've really fucked up.

Also there are numerous mods where modders have made hats visible and and even added different haircuts with just 2nd party software so what's their excuse? like why even bother making them if dont want to put any effort on them?

I mean I doubt we will ever see community pushback against negligence like this unless its widespread and egregious. That's the problem when players are super buddy-buddy with the company they pay money to, there's no pressure to not half ass things.

People who don't play H/V will just shrug and move on. People who do play H/V will just mod and deal with it.

But the thing is, i could understand not adjusting older gear. It’s the new gear that makes no sense to me. Why can’t they make the new gear work for them? Or hairstyles? It’s just really baffling to me it’s been an entire expansion with seemingly no improvements on that front.

Whatever is going on, it suggests that it's not just "we don't want to revisit old gear". Something stops them from being able to share hairstyles with the other races. Otherwise it shouldn't be more modification work than they already have to do for Miqo'te, so why stop short?

HOWEVER, there are some items that there's absolutely no excuse, such as the Calfskin cap (and a number of other similar items, like bandanas)... Just a hole would work. If they looked upon those smaller items, like caps, hoods and bandanas, it would open a huge variety.

I've seen similar glitches with Miqo'te too, and their ears float in a similar distance than of Viera... and the caps, bandanas, etc, all float a little above the actual scalp, if you compare some images... It's just that Viera ears would need different kind of holes.

Of course, point hats, for example, defnitely would be really hard to work because their point would clip upwards. I mean literally bandanas and caps, they can be workable just with the holes.
