1: Make the solid "Mass effect" glow rotate around the weapons. (EI: Alexander weapons)
2: Made the neon soft glow of the weapon itself have a nice follow effect. (EI: most Trial glowing weapons)

With these new ones... They just feel lazy, uninspired and cheap.

But these are just my opinions.
Since you are aware that this is just your subjective opinion, then you should also know that a design isn't going to be bad or "lazy" merely because you personally don't like it, nor are the designers at fault for your personal tastes.

Chances are many people would also dislike the changes you suggest.
