    controller on pc!! help D:

Out of the blue, I've been having issues where my controller will randomly activate and move around the mouse cursor while the buttons will act as if I'm clicking with my mouse.. After some research and failed attempts to fix the issue, I've determined that it's not just my Xbox controller, but it also happens when I hook up my ps4 controller too. I haven't been able to isolate the source of the problem due to not being able to determine whether it is my computer or ffxiv that's causing it but if anyone has any other ideas to help fix this I'd be really appreciative because I'm super duper stumped ... D:

I currently don't have steam but I did download it just to check the controller settings "in desktop mode" but it still moved my my cursor around etc, also tried to uninstall and reinstall ffxiv but it also still happens after I did that too. Microsoft tried to tell me to check some HID compatible mouse to see if there was an alpha mouse but they also weren't able to come to any solutions.

couple questions are you using any controller software like DS4 and are you sure its not the mouse itself

normally controller can only activate the mouse if you have turned on Virtual controller/Mouse mode

no other software, just the xbox controller through the wireless adapter in the USB port and when I tried with my ps4 controller, I just plug it straight in with the cable..

yeah, I'm not sure what it is tbh... so when I turn on my pc and controller it's normal, then I load ffxiv and it's still fine. It's when I start pressing buttons and try to do stuff in-game then it starts playing up randomly during dungeons but I've noticed it mainly happens when I try going into the main menu when I try to go into the duty finder etc but the weird thing is when I close ffxiv it still has control over my mouse even when I've exited the game... so maybe it's when I press menu on my controller it's activating mouse mode? but its not keybound... and that doesn't explain why it still has control over my mouse once I've existed the game..

Good morning and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

We apologize that you are experiencing difficulties with your controller. Please try the following troubleshooting steps:

    - Try using a genuine Xbox360 or Xbox One controller (preferably wired) as these are compatible with Windows OS.
    - Try plugging the controller into different ports (both front and back).
    - Make sure all drivers for the controller are fully up to date.
    - Uninstall and reinstall the device drivers.
    - Disable all other device drivers, leaving the mouse, keyboard, and controller as the only active devices.
    - If you are using a specialized gaming keyboard, try using a different keyboard to ensure there are no conflicts between the devices.
    - Try unplugging all other devices and only plugging in the mouse, keyboard, and controller.
    - Make sure Windows has been fully updated from the Microsoft/Windows Update website.

Thank you for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.
