    What's the motivation to raid?

    Got invited to raid today...

Sooo... With Eureka, the motivation is to upgrade relic gear and get the T-Rex mount. What about raiding?

This is my first time in all my years of playing MMOs to hit max level. It'll be my first time "raiding". What exactly do I get from raiding?

    Thanks.

Salt. You get salt from raiding.

You get the highest level gear in the game: it's EXTREMELY unlikely that your best in slot won't include any raid gear. Besides that, the challenge of the fights.

In terms of items you get from raiding:

    - highste ilvl gear available
    - weapon with the highste ilvl for the current patchcycle
    - dyeable raid-gear (shares the model with the gear from NM, but dyeable)
    - mountdrop for clearing the last tier, aka O12S

In terms of other things someone can get from raiding:

    - the satisfaction to have cleared some of the most challenging content in the game
    - fun, by doing that with friends
    - seeing the full, last fight - at least in SB each of the last fights (4, 8 and 12) have a special phase thats exclusive to Savage
    - an aneurism from all the anger if people dont show up in time for the third week
    - (pathtic) bragging rights, depending on when you clear it

Some people just enjoy getting to learn and eventually clear tougher content. There doesn't have to be much more motivation than that. It's a goal that feels satisfying when accomplished, and that can be fun enough in itself.

You get to use your social skills to mani--I mean encourage your other party members to carry you.

Oh and get you free gil. That's the most important part, even more than the loot.

If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.

High blood pressure, screaming at people, outbursts of profanity, dafuq moments watching that dude run into the fire and dying, oh and the joy of killing a boss on a higher difficulty that drops better gear.

Well multiple things from my perspective:

1/See the story behind the raid

2/For the challenge and learning experiences, cuz usually some raid bosses have mechanics that might be used later in future content

And 3/For funs and thrills, this one tho applies more to normal raids than savage difficulty raids but for me when a raid is fun that encourages me to do it multiple times either for farming, helping other people or just reliving a favorite fight of mine....

Some people can be salty tho so don't get discouraged if you encounter some people like this....I'd say give raiding a try

Tho if you didn't do the alexander raid I suggest you do that first cuz it's a bit easier to digest and a good practice before doing the omega raid

Raiding what? There are a lot of things in this game that are considered raiding.

Raiding 24 mans? Its a casual spectacle of running with a small army through a large dungeon, with some neat bosses and mechanics. The incentive is the catch up patch gear, and the spectacle.

Raiding 8 man NM? Same iLv gear as crafted gear, and i380 is a good first step to doing 8 man savage raids.

Raiding 8 man savage? iLv cap gear early in the 6 month gear tier, and bragging rights, really.
