I agree that the field notes should be made more easily accessible to people. No one has the time nor the desire to sit in front of a screen and mindlessly grind with little to know pay-off. This just irritates the dedicated players.

At this point, even 999 coins sound way more appealing than praying before opening the chest. (ノ*・ω・)ノ At least, we can work on grinding and there's an end in sight.
Dabog's & Lyon's notes have a 100% drop rate from their duels. Save yourself the headache and go kill the duels; the notoriety system guarantees you'll get into them after enough attempts.
You don't even have to learn the duels either, just the first 30s of them. there's a method to stack so many buffs on your character as a RDM and then use lost flare star to burn the southern front duels in about 20-30s. Gabriel falls over basically as soon as he finishes his very first magitek canon, and Lyon falls over soon after taste of blood.
Just look up 'easy zadnor duels' on youtube. Same thing can be done in Southern front, only way easier since the southern front duels have way less HP. It's how I got my Lyon notes that I was missing.
Do you think it's something still profitable? I've only gotten into bozja recently & farmed it like mad & saw stacks of the coins. I didn't think about the augmented gear
Also throwing my name in the hat. The drop rates are really bad. I've been in Bozja since it was first released. Probably done each fate that drops the two notes I'm missing from Southern Front at least 50 times apiece. It's abysmal. They never drop.
Field Notes on Sartauvoir

Unrest for the Wicked

For Absent Friends

Lost count how many times I've done these without ever seeing the notes. Seen Castrum pop like 5 times in the same instance before some of these fates even come up. These are the last two notes I'm missing from Southern Front. It's starting to feel like Eureka all over again. Groups of people hanging about the crystals waiting on the specific fates to pop for the notes they're missing, much like how people hang around crystals in Eureka waiting on the fates that drop the magia board items that never drop. I agree, we need an alternate way to purchase or acquire the notes we're missing. Some of the drop rates on items in the game are beyond ridiculous. Garlean Synthetic Fabric for me is one. Literally only dropped twice for me the entire time they've been in the game. Gave up and had to buy mine like many other people. And like E12n. Must've run it over 100 times. I've never seen the card drop once. Seen the music maybe twice. They really should revisit the drop rates in the game for many things.

For Absent Friends takes FOREVER to pop and when it does the whole instance is on it. If you are not right on the spot, there's a high chance you might miss it. Too many times I pop into the instance, see it on the map then looking at the percentage going up rapidly and my heart just sink. I cry a little inside. ಥ_ಥAlso throwing my name in the hat. Assuming you don't have constant lag/latency issues or can react fast enough. I have a friend who has both of these problems, and they were forced to camp the spawn for Murder, Death, Kill and spam Castrum for a week straight until they got both.
even if those duels have 100% only a skilled players can beat those duels also you need luck to even get in one.
100% we need an alternate way to obtain these. The drop rates are abysmal. I must've done Steel and Flame close to 60 times now and still haven't got it. At this point I feel like SE owes me one.
I saw two people melt them earlier, eating 50% of their health in one go with valor stacks so that may not be true anymore. It was also changed so if you don't get into a duel successfully, your chances increase the next time. Just avoid getting any vulnerability stacks in the CE, even if you focus more on mechanics than damage.
