There should be other ways to obtain the Field notes.

125 runs, I've gotten the zebra raptor 3 times, I've gotten the mene note twice,

and the Lyons note zero.

I've given up grinding Dalriada, and I think others have also. Its just not worth it at all. I started focusing on the Relic quests in an attempt to maybe fool the Desire sensor in my favor and when I've been returning to Dalriada to get the emotions, I'm noticing fewer people running them at peak times.

And I did the duel, and followed the steps to the letter and I still got crushed

This is my biggest tip for anyone going for the Duels in Zadnor. If you find yourself in a dying instance and people are leaving. STAY. Myself and my bonded (WAR) 2 manned the CEs for Lyon and Menenius with the massive echo buff that you get. Since we were the only people left in the instance with the duels spawning, I got in with no waiting or notoriety hassle. Both duels were done in an hour with both notes finally in hand.

This is exactly how I got my Sartauvoir’s note. Took 2 tries to finally get his note cause I derp’ed on first attempt. I gave up relying on RNG and just learn the duel. It wasn’t bad at all & didn’t even need to cheese.

The harder part instead was the attempt to make sure the skirmish, CE, & duel isn’t on cooldown at last few minutes while hoping the other players had already left the instance by being discouraged of being in a dead instance.

In my last attempt the instance for whatever reason suddenly reopened again but thankfully CLL also spawns so people omits the CE & I got my duel opportunity :P

I went back to Bozja yesterday after taking like a month break - I've tried off and on since bozja's release to complete the set (just something to do originally, like collecting TT cards or blue mage spells) but it has better incentive since the mount- so i guess back to sitting at zone 3, half AFK or mindlessly farming scorps to sit at 1 fate spawn and hope that cluster farmers don't set back the spawn queue too far, but let's be real they will. so yay the 22 dyunbu notes, and 0 sart notes. good rng. I think they should add his notes to the other fates of sarts help wanted and pyro supreme.

I have all field notes and never did any duels, so yes, they do drop.

I went through the same predicament myself, my friend. I give up in the end and just went big for the duel. Took me two tries in two days & now I can ignore all skirmishes forever lol.

This is the first issue in my 5 or 6 years playing FF14 that I felt strongly enough about something to login on the forums to write about it.

The notes being RNG drops from chests in Dalriada, Castrum etc feel especially frustrating and punishing because it feels that you get nothing for learning the fight, spending your essences and actions, etc.

I've known people to get the notes on their 5th, 10th run... I've seen someone say they got it on their second or third run and they kept dying throughout the fight which is not their fault at all. But it feels like the rest of us who get nothing from the chest are being punished despite pulling our weight while this person we carried through it got their notes so easily. Worst of all we don't know how many more times we must do this again and again...

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over hoping for a different outcome!

This is the complete opposite of what a EX or savage fight is, where when you get better at it you get a totem, a book, and when you get enough you can exchange it for your reward.

The notes could have been a reward for completing Dalriada without dying, without vuln stacks etc 50 times or something.

I sincerely hope we are allowed to purchase notes with coin, mettle, whatever, I have lots of everything from bozja but running very low on my love for the game.
