I think it was only because it was an item they were out of.

For the "requested 10" I would have gotten only 4 Anima. All 32 Branches got 12. The bonus was because the current supply was 0. Still, I got 2 to 8 Branches each time they came up so about an hour for 12 anima isn't bad.

I got 12 initially for my 32 Spruce Branches.

Then the NPC said, paraphrased: "Thank goodnees you've come along, we're all out of that. I'll make sure you get something extra."

Then it gave me the 100. So it seems you only get 100 for supplying an item currently at 0. Otherwise you get a fixed rate.

Still have to find out what the crafted and materia'd items give as you only have to turn in one of those.
