Yeah, but on the brightside, at least I don't have to worry about nastygram PMs. (But on the flipside I can't PM anyone that I like )

I mean, even if Sharlayan is an egalitarian society, what is the price of loyalty? They still engage in commerce, and there's obviously a hierarchy, as I'm sure those 99 Forum seats are highly coveted and influential. While anyone may rise to them, and no one will be looked down on for their birth or name, I'm sure persuasion of the lucrative type greases all sorts of wheels still. Not saying that it's as bad as Ul'dah and the Syndicate or whatever, but like not everyone gets the water front property, if you catch my meaning.

I'm also remembering that they have arranged marriage, via the Astrologian questline, so it's entirely possible that Ameliance is in a loveless marriage and also not in command of the family fortune. Of course, this also means they step out of the bounds of egalitarinism again by having pedigree comparisons/selection for who marries who.

Was disappointed to see the new zone music was the same, but not surprised. Not a fan of the relics at all and they feel worse than the Eureka ones tbh. It feels like they’re all missing glows or something. Not a fan of them making the raid similar to castrum in terms of queuing...why even make DR different then. It was complaints that asked for a duty finder for these and then they just completely go back to the problem again. Leveling in the new zone is easy but insanely mind numbing. It got to a point i was just in zone 3 doing the same 4 skirmishes over and over. It felt like a literally cycle of hell. Overall the story was okay, hoping to see Gabranth in 6.0 but the content itself was very very dull.

I'd say they thought ahead well. My friend cleared it in an 8-man (I watched him stream it), so we don't need the instances to be full, just 8 people alone can do it.

And the reason for Lyon's mutiny makes no sense. When we last see them in game, Gabranth is basically like "Hey Lyon, take some of the heat man" and Lyon is all like "sure man no problemo". He shows no resentment for Noah's decision. Also I may have paraphrased a bit.

Also the record states that Lyon and other high ranking IVth legion officers, including one Sicinus mal Velletus, are still at large as war criminals, so they are still an unresolved thread.
This was also done in FF12 early on in its backstory twice, with both Ashe and Basch.

It's also the case in Final Fantasy Tactics.

Ramza survives the events of the game, though his demise is faked and it isn't until much later in Ivalice's history that the truth surrounding his actions is revealed to the world. I think it'd be pretty disappointing if Gabranth was indeed killed off screen but I'm reluctant to take that at face value just yet. We've already had the Return to Ivalice story carry over into Save the Queen so there's already a precedent for the story to be picked up again in the upcoming expansion. There's still arguably a lot of FFXIV's version of Ivalice to tap into, after all.

If Gabranth was just going to be killed off, there was ample opportunity to do it during the confrontation aboard the Dalriada. His counterpart in FFXII is also one of the more popular and memorable characters in the story, being a key player in the defeat of Vayne and Venat. I'd be very surprised if nothing was done with him, given FFXIV's history of fanservice.

Ultimately, it's likely written to be open ended to account for Matsuno being a guest writer. If he's invited to continue serving in such a capacity in the future, the plot point can be picked up again. If not, it leaves things open to speculation as to what truly went down.

SPOILER for Save the Queen ending!!!!! You are WARNED!

Gabranth and Lyon are not killed off in the end as they are kept alive with a huge cliffhanger for the story to be continued in next expansion or a future expansion so the FFT/FFXII story of FF14 will continue. The choices made in this does affect certain aspect of the ending though as a certain person will live or die in the ending based on your choices.

Though I don't know where will SE take the storyline after Save the Queen if they continue it in 6.X era. The only hints we have is that Gabranth is collecting a certain set of weapons from the Allagan Ruins and it seems his main goal was always to obtain these weapons above everything else.

In hindsight, it does seem rather possible Gabranth's "death" was staged but even if it was, with the IVth legion basically dissolved and a terminal illness catching up with him it seems unlikely he'll be able accomplish much of anything...though if those allagan relics he discovered are of them same sort as Save the Queen and Zantestsuken, I suppose some new issues could come up as a result of that.
I honestly don't see him being killed off screen since as of now SE developers are basically creating a entire separate storyline for FF14 that is almost on the scale of the MSQ with the FFT/FFXII storyline covering multiple expansions. What we see in the ending is a very big hint SE may have a long term goal for the FFT/FFXII storyline
