This is probably wrong, but I always took his wanting to sleep as a call for his work to be done. As in it's not a physical need for sleep but a need to finally be at the point where Zodiark is back. Like the way we talk about a super repetitive job that we've done for a long time that tires us out mentally and spiritually more then physically anymore and are at the point of quitting for our mental health.

He still stayed awake long enough to create the Allagan and Garlean Empires, though.

His most recent "nap" was very short, considering the time-bubble single year between his "death" as Solus in 2.x and his reawakening after Lahabrea died in HW.

For Ascian timelines, his natural lives creating Allag and Garlemald would be very short, some 50 to 60 years (perhaps as long as 80) each. He DID mention that he had planned on sleeping for much longer but was woken up early because of "Lahabrea's crowning moment of idiocy"

Schrödinger might be able to explain it to you...

Though my best guess is that it was supposed to have been edited in the 5.57 update file but wasn't, and they'll update it with the hotfixes.

So take note of the current contents, I guess, and we'll see what comes out of it later. Was there an actual error or are they tweaking the lore?

Interview with Yoshi-P and Matsuno. More detail in the link, but as far as the future of this storyline:
-The field records at the end were not hastily changed like some fans believed, they were always written that way.
-Matsuno didn't want to tell a story of Dalmasca's liberation, he wants to tell a story of what comes afterward.
-A next stage of the Ivalice story is not currently in planning stages but is still on the table for someday.
-Fran and the WoL will meet again some day in the future to discuss Ashe and Lyon.

Praise the father, Faram! So from what I'm reading the "third act" of the story (Matsuno tends to work in 4 acts, btw, and even then tends to leave some things open just in case he wants to revisit settings: such as what happened with Tactics Ogre: LUCT, and his ideas for the scrapped Vagrant Story 2) isn't confirmed but isn't outright cancelled, either. Makes Matsuno's comment about it more... understanding? or at least more neutral.

Matsuno had no involvement in having so many references to his past game like Palace of the Dead and the HW gear sets (all from tactics ogre), he actually was against references to non-FF games, but when the Yokai Watch collaboration dropped, that's when he decided he doesn't care anymore.

This is... kind of funny, really. Initially Vagrant Story was supposed to be a stand-alone game and the references to Agrias and Orlandeu weren't meant to be taken seriously; but when people kept asking if it meant Valendia and Ivalice were connected he ended up rolling with it. I'd love to see more stuff from the Ogre Saga, though it seems Matsuno-san isn't involved when they reference THAT.

The point about Matsuno specifically requesting Zadnor because the Southern Front was too bleak and dreary also makes sense. Matsuno does write some BLEAK settings (The Necrohol of Nabudis, for example-and omg now I want the Necrohol in the Third Act), but he's also fond of lush forests and vast oceans.

I'd be very intrigued to see Stormblood written by Matsuno, those stories of Revolution and Civil War are his style.

If that future talk does not include the evils of a hidden structure underneath Lea Monde, I will be highly disappointed, it'd make for a good story along with nods to the past. Especially if we get a cloaked NPC who in the end turns out to have the name of Ashley Riot, or at least looks like him.

Kind of prefer it that way honestly. We've had enough 'libreate this place from the Empire' stories, I'd rather not do another one for Dalmasca.
