To those of you who are new,
Please do not just stand there ignoring aoes while you thwap the boss. Not even attempting to move is BAD PLAY and an exercise in frustration and futility for the rest of your party. Especially in boss fights where one person not doing mechanics can mean a total party wipe.
This said, I am okay with giving new players a wipe on every boss to help them understand and learn mechanics and I will gladly allot that one wipe per boss per dungeon. But after that wipe, I expect you to at least take something away from the attempt. Do not just come back to the boss and repeat the EXACT SAME THING. If you were dying to AOEs in the first round and/or your healer cant keep up with healing you, make your next attempts priority to move out of the AOEs first and then return to thwapping the boss until you get comfortable with the ebb and flow of the fight.
In later dungeons/raids/etc, you will NEED to learn to move out of aoes WHILE fighting. It is a VALUABLE SKILL and one that you MUST LEARN. Yes, there are some exceptions as your gear/level/skill improves, but you should learn to move around as necessary as soon as possible because not every time will you be able to rely on your party/healer to keep you alive while you just stand there as rooted as a tree, hitting the boss.
