The problem is Crystal, i think. People are weird here. I've been wanting to leave since the DC split but i've been in this FC since ARR and it's not quite dead yet.

I think I ended up in a duty with you at one point back when I played on Balmung. I ended up taking my leave due to the weirdness, though. The atmosphere completely changed after the split - and not for the better, in my opinion. I probably would have done it either way, though...since there's much better ping for me on Cerberus and I actually have a house now.

That's exactly why I chill at my private house or the FC house. I only go out to do my business then poof back. Crystal has a lot of weird personalities. Some of them are amusing to watch sometimes, but many are just cringe.

I'm in a really good one with 8 people for a year + now that doesn't recruit at all. I wanted one for my alt, esp one with people that raid. On Crystal that seemingly only happens in large FCs.

Try a different world. The problem isn't Crystal, the problem is Balmung, which suffered a lot from being locked for years. Worlds like Zalera are a lot better.

The stories of some FCs out there can certainly haunt you. Any FC that recruits unsolicited isn't worth your hassle.

I had one that sure didn't waste time kicking me from discord when I left on good terms, goes to show some people's balls really get sore.

Do people remember that one FC on Adamantoise not too long ago that had every member on a tight leech like a cult? They couldn't buy things from MB or do raid content on their own? Aether people showed up in solidarity to stand in their house lot in protest.

You won't politely tell them that you aren't interested, but you'll blast everyone on the forums about your business. If said FC members find this post then more drama will ensue, and your want to "not have to tell them" will only get much messier.

Yeah, some loss of an FC member you are. Honestly it's a good riddance. I would even bet that if your new FC finds this post, and somehow connects it to you, that they might even get rid of you. You're clearly a drama starter.

I would advise that if you want to keep something your business, that you keep quiet, and if you are pressed on the issue, that you give them a healthy dose of polite honesty in a private setting. You don't have to like peoples recruiting habits, but people work hard to build their FC's and they deserve at the very least a small response in return. If you can't give that, then it shows you do not value their time, and could give a crap less. This entire post is just a waste of everyone's time, including your own.

Worse FC experience I had was when I returned to the game when HW launched after quitting right before 2.1 dropped. I was playing on an alt to get familiar with the game and story once more before I would jump back to my main. I joined the FC a friend was in and he told me the leader was a bit odd. That I shouldn't mention that this was an alt character because that was against one of the rules. I thought that would be the extent of it and I'd just mind my own business. The third day of me being in the FC, the leader started to send me tells. Asking who I was and things like that. Didn't worry about it till the following day when he asked me to come to his "office at the FC house". Now I felt things were going too far. I entered the "office" and he said I could take a seat while he locked the door. My friend I was talking to on skype at the time and displaying my screen was just in shock like I was. The leader started to explain to me the history of the FC and his goals with it. Pretty harmless but still way too weird for me so I left the next day. Got whispers from the leader over the next few days which I just ignored.

A month later, the friend that had invited me into that FC told me that it died. Things were already pretty strained with the leader being inappropriate with several of the female members (and one guy playing a female character) but the last straw was when he called a FC emergency. He had requested that everyone return to the FC house asap. Once they had all gathered he started to beg for gil donations in order to buy chandeliers for the house.
