Quest Progression - HOW to know the next quest in a questline???

This is an issue I've come across as a newer player to the game.

Previously, I knew to pick up blue-background quests for additional unlocks during the post-game for any level of content. Additionally, sometimes there would be OTHER additional unlock quests or "secret unlocks" that didn't have a blue quest icon, but instead had an image on the questline when you went to pick it up.

A prime example of what I'm experiencing for this as an issue is the Moogle Beast Tribe...how the heck do you know what the next quest to pick up would be without a quest progression guide?

Don't get me wrong, those are extremely helpful. I am so appreciative of my friends and the community guiding me through this content, but I think it would be insurmountably beneficial to any player to allow a post-quest hint at the next quest. Or a completion comment of "resume this questline by accepting -x-". Or even just...making these quests blue, since they are still additional content.

For context, I have only owned/played this game for maybe less than 3 months, and I'm in post-shadowbringers right now. I have over 700 hours logged so far (probably because I spend so much time running around lost trying to find the next-in-quest-line!) A part of this may be because I'm still just relatively new to this game. Any advice from seasoned players for figuring these sorts of issues out without googling every other thing that occurs w/o a clear quest follow-up...?

For beast tribes you just continue doing the dailies until a new blue quest marker appears. You need a certain amount of reputation to get them. The game tells you that in a brief pop up after the first quest. But if you are just hitting enter through and not paying attention then its easy to miss. You get this with all questlines that have requirements to be met, once you finish part 1, the dialog box will turn dark and it will tell you what is required for part 2. And in the case of other quests, if the quest marker is in red and locked, then you can click on the npc and they will tell you what is needed for it to be unlocked.

Quest lines will always pop up one after the other or will tell you what is needed to unlock the next part, there are no hidden requirement quests anymore. They did away with those after Heavensward and even changed some of the old quests so unlocks were not hidden.

When it comes to other ones that require certain things to be done before you are able to unlock the piece of content, like crystal tower, void ark, relic weapons or things like the saucer, just play the game, almost all content unlocks just by being the appropriate level or have progressed far enough in the msq. But if they had all quest markers laid out prior and locked in red. It would be painful.

Micah I get the feeling you completely understand the meaning of the moogle tribe is difficult to unlock and should research the requirements yourself

I did the moogle tribe when it was new, also didn't have any issues since I just do sidequests when I see them. But I was under the impression they wanted the next quest in the actual tribe quest line, since they said they wanted to unlock the second part of the moogle questline, which is why I told them to progress on mog dailies.

Moogles are an outlier in the way they require so many quests to unlock. Like I said, they got rid of those with heavensward, which was the expac that the moogles were in. I was letting them know this is a non-issue for almost every other thing in the game since moogles were just an example they used. This game doesn't need a whole system for it, but they do need to change the mog quests to blue and be done.

Yo I feel the same way. I ended up doing all of the quests in The Churning Mists trying to unlock them, only to have to look it up afterwards and see part of the quest chain is in Ishgard. I wish they made it more clear.
