    Multiple subs on one account

I am not sure of this the right place to post this. I’ve googled and can’t find a clear answer or I don’t know how to word the search to get an answer.
So I am going to try and be clear with this:

Is it possible to have more than one subscription attached to my account?

If it is possible and I purchased FFXIV on a different platform would I be able to play my 2 subs at the same time?

Or are the subs tied to each license and not the account?

And I would I be able to swap them? Like my main character I created on the PS4/5 but I want to log in to the PC with that character. Then my second sub could play on the PS4/5.

Basically, I want to play with my son and be able to swap between PC, PS and potentially XBOX.

You can't play on two different platforms with the same account at once. I have FF on PlayStation and on PC. You can log in with one or the other. If you are logged on one and try the other it will kick you.

If you have two different subs which you pay monthly you can log in with both they are different accounts.

From what I see, you can have several "service account" and for each account several platform licences (PC/Mac/PS).

    So, it seems :
on one "global account", you can register several "service account".
on one "service account", you can register several platform (though you need to purchase the platform-specific licence of the game for each platform)

Characters from one service account will be shared between platforms but not between the two account services.

But in my opinion, you should better keep two totally separated accounts. It will be less confusing especially if one day you stop using a one of them.

In other words, it looks safer to do :
    Global A - service A - Licences PC/PS/Mac whatever available
Global B - service B - Licences whatever you want

    Rather than a mix
    Global A - service A
    Global A - service B
where you could end by setting the wrong licence on the wrong account.

Plus, if you play with your son, to keep global accounts separeted will allow your son to manage his account when you will think he's responsible enough to do so.

I’m basically trying to avoid doubling up on each game. I don’t want to buy 2 licenses on PC and 2 licenses on PS. That’s 4 copies.

Maybe I'm mistaken but from what I know, you can't double log. One licence number can be recorded one time and only.

To answer your question: no. You can have multiple service accounts on one account, but the account can only be logged in to one platform at a time. Trying to log into a different platform will cause the other connection to force terminate.

If you & your son want to play together and the ability to play on the different platforms, you will have to have two separate accounts, which will require 1 PC license & 1 PS4/5 license each, unfortunately.

You can have up to 8 service accounts on a Square Enix account. They will all use the same login credentials, you switch by selecting "Data Center" from the main menu of XIV, but each service account is a separate subscription and has separate game licences. Examples:

    Service Account 1: PC, PS4
    Service Account 2: PC, Mac
    Service Account 3: PC

If you have an active subscription for each, you can login all three accounts at the same time, but only one character from each and only on the platforms that there is a licence for.

So from the example above you could could play on PS4 on account 1 and PC on accounts 1, 2 and 3, but you couldn't play on PS4 on account 3 as it doesn't have a PS4 licence. Although account 1 has a licence for PC and PS4 you can only login on one at a time.

You also need to have the expansion content as well. If you tried to log into a character that was in a Stormblood area, but you don't have Stormblood, it won't let you login. You'd have to login using the platform that does have Stormblood, move your character, then it'd let you login on the platform that doesn't have Stormblood.

However, saying all that, if the service accounts are for different people I really do recommend you do not create them on the same account as they can never be split to a different account. Likewise characters cannot be transferred between service accounts, even ones on the same main account.

I don't know how old your son is now, but even if you're the one controlling both accounts for now, if you create his account as a separate account then one day you could at least hand the account/over to him when he's old enough. If he's created on your account, you'll have to continuously share login details (which technically breaks the terms of service if he's no longer a child etc) and that'll cause problems when trying to use two factor authentication too or one of your would have to start over.

So I would need to purchase separate licenses.
If I do that then I would want to have a separate SE account for him. I just want to avoid all the license.

Yes. As multiple service account on same SE Account, can't understand why you would though.

Haven't tried with multiple service accounts on same SE account but maybe might work.

Hi there, I do this with my wife.

Basically, you will need to purchase the game in full for each account you want to run at once. It does not care whether you buy the PlayStation version or PC, but you will need to purchase the entire series for whatever platform(s) you want to run with. Once you have an account set up, it does not care which platform you use/log in on, but it will need a license to use ps4/pc/Mac for each individual account.
