What other "evil" or "dark" jobs could we add to FFXIV?

Out of curiosity I am wondering what other evil, anti-hero like, or dark type jobs could be added to Final Fantasy XIV.

So far we have Black Mage, Dark Knight, and Reaper. I have heard talk of Necromancer, but other than that, I am not sure what kind of job we could expect in this type of category. I'm curious to hear thoughts on this matter.

Fairly certain that reaper was a compromise for necromancer.

The WoL is anything but evil so I think they'll tread carefully. I wouldn't be surprised if Reaper is the last of the jobs that sort of tow the line there.

    For some clarification!

Black Mages (Thaumaturges too) embrace a mentality of "destroy them utterly, thus they can't do that to you". It does rely on forceful powers and mentality, but it's taken quite the steps away from truly DARK magic since Mhach fell - for good reason, as the related lvl 60 Alliance stories for it would tell you.

Dark Knights fall under a more "means justify the ends" to bring those to justice who are otherwise untouchable under lawful concerns - it's also the most personal class, in that the reasons for becoming one are very individual, as opposed to BLM starting from THM, which is more of a "job" in a sense of being priests of death.

Reaper, on the other hand, seems to have taken up the whole Voidsent interactivity the Black Mages had in Mhach's days, though it does seem far more mutual than typical voidsent relations ever were. We need to learn more firsthand, though, so gotta wait until either 5.55 sprinkling hints or EW directly.

The issue with Necromancer and necromancy in general is that from how the soul-cycle and renewal works on Hydaelyn, the soul-binding side of necromancy is directly harmful to the planet. Unlike all the others, who might tap into dark powers, have "Nuke 'em before they kill us", or make pacts with voidsent... Necromancy is the one that's truly negative to the world itself - and thus "evil" - in almost every sense, and isn't likely something our character could ever reasonably pick up as a hero. For more context onto this, examine the Tam Tara Deepcroft (Hard) and Palace of the Dead's story - I'd even suggest looking into Tactics Ogre for even more tie-ins to the Palace, as Nybeth Obdilord is probably the best done Necromancer I've seen in video games so far.

That being said, I'd absolutely love to see "Dark" themed classes insofar as aetherology is concerned. WHM and SCH are... Primarily umbral classes or simply "undefined" healing energy, and AST draws from celestial aether and thus would have mixed aspecting already. I'd love a class - a healer primarily, but class in general - that focuses on what's considered "Darkness" as a focus on largely astral effects.

A dark healer of sorts would be a welcome addition. Perhaps they could make it some sort of occultist.

Only other "dark" classes I can think of for a DPS would maybe be like... an onmyoji/shikigami class - something that deals with yokai. To differentiate it from summoner, don't make it a pet class. Or maybe an exorcist.
A dark healer is kind of a tough one. Maybe something like a plague doctor?
For tank, I have no idea. I'd have to think about it more.

An Exorcist would be a wonderful new job. I could see it applying Senjafuda to enemies and doing damage that is based on exorcising them. Perhaps when an enemy dies to an Exorcist, they gain a unique death animation. After the body falls to the ground, it disappears into dust instead of just fading out the normal way.

Maybe something like that, yeah. I've been thinking it would be cool to have a class that uses talismans for a while now.

It'd be a decent compromise on a caster version of Necromancer, IMO. I was either hoping for that or time mage to use darkness as its dominant energy in attacks (or light/dark duality), providing BLM sticks strictly (more or less) to its current elemental trio with a peppering of spells that could dubiously be termed dark-powered.

    It's from here:

So naturally, we were curious if any other jobs were in the running, and could have possibly bumped one of the two jobs fans are getting in Stormblood out. Yoshida was a little hesitant, not wanting to fuel speculation, but was able to elaborate on some loose ideas that the team had for another job.

“We were thinking of a ranged caster as well” said Yoshida. Apparently the idea was for a very Japanese type of Shaman, Magician, Conjurer-like ranged attacker. There wasn’t a direct English word that perfectly described the idea that Yoshida was trying to describe.

However, when I chimed in and suggested something like the Oracle from Final Fantasy Tactics, Yoshida responded with an emphatic “Yes!” So take that for what it’s worth.
