If you have all Astral Fire and Umbral Ice stacks ready, you can combo 2 Fire II casts followed by 2 Flare casts (i usually keep swiftcast for the double flare) for some great AoE dmg, bonus points if you also use sharpcast beforehand for thunder IV, but that combo is mainly used on large Dungeon pulls, since Fire II is in my book only worth using when you fight 4 or more enemies at once.

Now Blizzard II and whatever the hell Scathe is suppoest to be, deserve some serious attention for a rework. I'd be glad if Ice II would get its root effect back so that it would be at least useful in PotD and HoH.

Fire II is a DPS loss. It is better to just spam flare(using it to go from UI back to AF). Fire II is basically never useful at any level which is the problem.

It's useful up to level 34, which is why it should just upgrade into Flare.
Same with B2 and Freeze for that matter.

Fire 2 turning into Flare doesn't quite work because Flare isn't a STRICT upgrade - it has a wonkier, less convenient MP cost and a longer cast time.

Blizzard 2 becoming Freeze makes a little more sense, but in the absence of an F2 upgrade breaks symmetry. I like that each fire spell has a corresponding ice spell!

A lot of things on BLM need a rework tbh. No matter what level you are there’s constantly obsolete skills and things just feel... messy.

Skills like blizzard 1, blizzard 2, fire 2 and scathe should get traits to become more useful at higher levels if not simply upgrade into their newer counterparts. E.G. have blizzard 2 upgrade to freeze. Rework some of their skills to streamline the AoE and single target rotation, have fire 2 upgrade to flare and make flare simply a more powerful fire 2, have blizzard and fire upgrade to blizzard 3 and fire 3 and just be a potency upgrade that grants instant astral/umbral 3.
