You can't have a thriving MMO if you can't encourage casual players to cut through the ever growing old content to get to the new stuff. That's why old stuff gets nerfed. That's why the Echo system is in place. That's why we get mog tomestones every now and then to trade for content that's too much of a hassle to set up now. So very very few people care about being the "best" at completing the content and many are content enough to wait till it gets easier to get rewards expert players already got expansions ago.
Unsynching old content is probably one of the best things they've done for player retention.
Imagine caring about old content from 2-3-4 years ago that nobody wants to run anymore. Only less than 10% of the player base does Savage.

I look forward to unsyncing the eden raids and getting the hard earned rewards this lad doesnt want me to have
This is literally the attitude that turned off so many WoW players. They introduced LFR gear in WoW to appease those, minority, of you players who felt entitled to better things cause... reasons. We all pay for subscriptions and if you got the item synced, good for you. The majority of us FFXIV players don't super care how you got said item, we just like the way it looks. Glamour is the true end game!
People who just run content unsync'd clearly don't care about all the hard work and effort the developers put into the savage fights. For example take a look at that disgusting "good bye world" strat for o12s. Players would rather die than do the mechanic properly and it's not even that hard!
Either that or please start adding unskippable mechanics like Light Rampant
Raiders like me care about the hard work and effort that square puts into the fights, players who do fights unsync'd don't care about the effort the devs put into the fights at all, they just care about the rewards.
I do appreciate square squashing stats which will make unsync'd content harder, but I don't believe that's enough.
Patiently waits as I watch people get baited to respond to a year old necro'd thread by a new account for trolling
Lmao the type of niche takes people come up with. Nobody does synced savage for the mounts or gear in the first place. Why would people care?
Dis may be bait, but I have wondered why such content can be done unsynced and you can still get all the rewards. Seems kind of redundant and a waste of resources in the long run, since the player isn't exactly playing the content as it was originally intended a d be rewarded for it by basically playing on Journalist Mode. But meh, that's just me. :/

I would strongly argue it the other way, it being a waste of resources to do that suggestion as it would strongly discourage anyone to do it again. The group wanting to have that old experience for content with non-current rewards is very small, the group doing it for first time story and glamour, solo, who couldn't have done it before either due to schedule (current, or general) or difficulty concerns (whether skill or just "don't want to try that hard" lol) is much much larger.Dis may be bait, but I have wondered why such content can be done unsynced and you can still get all the rewards. For example I used to do savage in DF and found it to be an absolutely massive waste of time, people really failed to learn mechanics either prior to or during the actual event and you'd spend time dying to the same stuff usually due to the same people, yet if I used PF I'd be bound around some people's schedule or social drama- it's just honestly more bad stress then good stress and something I don't find fun. Doing hard stuff isn't the problem, it's the herd of cats that I find I just don't want to do- at all, ever. Want to queue for a content and be able to reasonably complete that content, with a death or two is fine, but an hour of dying cause people don't learn is just ew. Yet I will come back around when the content is echo'd so hard it's easy in a group or when I can solo it. Probably why before Blue Mage's release I was "okay" with the idea if it was a solo king- it kind of is but the gameplay is pretty poor until much much later and it still has some, imo, bad choices like self stuns and weak gameplay interactions with spells (has improved a lot, as to be honest at actual release I was first world upset at it's state and quality (upset, sad, but it's still just a game)).
To partition it off to just that select group and then easily watch it die except for a very very few handful of groups (who could have just done min sync as currently available) therefore, imo, would be the real waste of resources.
I am fine with the argument that ilvl grows too quickly or echo is too strong and may take away some elements, but removing the ability to overpower content (or removing reward opportunities) is a substantial waste of player opportunity.
